Made an *********** for Covid test for 12/14/21 after exposure to virus.Test was administered in the car outside on the parking lot. Took about 3 min altogether.Provided insurance information, which is PPO insurance. After the fact received a bill in the mail. **** included cost of the test (which my insurance covers) and a fee for a doctors Appointment. There were no dr ************ the fee is completely bogus. After multiple phone calls that didnt help to resolve the issue, I stopped by their office and explained the problem. They promises to correct and resolve with insurance. Today, literally almost 3 years later I got a bill from a collector from stat-med.After me submitting my insurance information.After them promising to remove fraudulent Dr. *********** charge, They sent it to collections? On February 1st I went to StatMed urgent care with severe COVID-19 symptoms before I was admitted to ***************** Hospital. At StatMed Urgent Care, I told reception I probably had COVID and couldn't breathe. I waited in my car, where a rapid antigen test was administered. After receiving positive test results, I was told I would not receive medical attention due to company policy. I received a bill for $502 statement date is 5/22/23. I spoke with StatMed billing to confirm insurance information because the claim is being rejected for unknown reasons. StatMed billing instructed me to call CCHP and ask for ***************** to call StatMed billing because policy says StatMed is not allowed to call CCHP. My insurance company was able to process my claim from ***************** hospital hours later, which is where I was again seeking the medical attention, previously denied at StatMed. My insurance provider cannot approve the StatMed billing claim because there is no record of submission. It appears StatMed is refusing to submit insurance claims and has repeatedly asked me to relay information to my insurance provider instead of contacting insurance directly.Business response

First, I'm sorry that the patient was not happy with the service she received. Several of the statements the patient made in her complaint are difficult for met to verify due to the time that has passed. That doesn't mean those things didn't happen, but if they did, it would be highly unusual. For example:
1. We have had no policy against providing medical attention to persons who test positive for COVID-19. Our overriding purpose is to take care of the health needs of the local community. If we turned away patients who tested positive for COVID, we would never have made it through the pandemic.
2. We have no policy that says we can't call CCHP directly, and we do it all the time.
3. We did submit a claim to CCHP and CHP did process it.
Perhaps our staff member that saw the patient was grossly misinformed, or perhaps her communication skills were lacking. Regardless, I again apologize for the patient's negative experience. ************* claim is closed and there are no outstanding amounts due.

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference tocomplaint ID ********, and have since resolved the issue with another billing specialist within StatMed who was able to verify there was an error within the claim submission. I agree the business would not have been as profitable had they denied care to COVID patients and I trust there is no policy against calling an insurance providers, but it seems too convenient that neither of these things are able to be verified. There are several online reviews which state dissatisfaction with your billing department, perhaps I am not an isolated case. Regardless, I have solved the billing issue and require no further contact. While I appreciate the $25 ********* gift card, it seems a little preemptive and possibly could be interpreted as an admission wrongdoing. I will not return to any StatMed affiliated urgent care centers or recommend the business. I hope this incident will be used as a future training opportunity to do better for the community.
