On May 31, 2023 I contracted with Best for Less Flooring Services to purchase materials for living room, dining room, and hall to install flooring by his subcontractor. It took almost 2 months for the flooring and materials to arrive, and the job wasn't done until July 26, 2023. The contractor he hired never came, but instead sent his two helpers to install the floor. it took approximately two days to complete. I contacted *** from Best for Less regarding the helpers, and not having the main subcontractor there, but he didn't do anything about it. Everything was a mess in my house,nothing was covered and there was dust everywhere. The job was done incorrectly and my floor is lifting and bubbling. *** never even came down to look at the floor. the sub he hired is neither licensed or insured. also, *** ordered to much material which amounts to $2,800. The job was never finished, as we were missing molding, etc, The contractor and helper came back to redo a section of the floor on September 6, 2023. The contractor fell asleep on my couch and the helper did most of the work. It came out worse this time. it is lifting and bubbling even more than before. *** and I have been in contact, and can't come to a resolution. I have $2800 of material that I didn't order and now it needs to be used for the redo. I shouldn't have to use my material for a redo. i had no contract or money exchange with the subcontractor. Since, *** hired the subcontractor, and purchased the extra material he should be responsible to have the floors redone. He has lied to me and has used every excuse in the book, it is now 10 months and my floors are still not done, I haven't been able to have company over my house, as the floor by the stairs is not finished and raised. I want *** to take responsibility and cover the costs for the redo, and materials needed to complete this job. We also feel the floor maybe defective as there are marks and scratches on it. He also needs to pay for an inspection. I overpaid him by around $2800 because he neglected to order the correct amount of material. He has been in business 45 years, so you would expect him to know how much material is needed to do the job. I have been very distraught and stressed by all this and need to have it resolved. he has offered to buy $150 of material and an inspection for $350. This is not acceptable. He made promised to me that he hasn't kept. I have emails and text messages with his lies and promises that have been broken.
