On 1/1/24:At Red Robin restaurant at ********************************************************. Total check tendered for pymt: $14 for 3 beers Correct amount owed (and paid) $8 for TWO beers plus $2 tip. I was charged for an item that was neither ordered NOR RECEIVED. ANOTHER PATRON CONFIRMED EMPHATICALLY AND ABSOLUTELY TO THE WAITRESS AND MGR, BASED ON THE RECORDED TIME THAT THE DISPUTED BEVERAGE WAS SUPPOSEDLY SERVED, THAT THE ADDITIONAL BEVERAGE ADDED TO THE *** WAS DEFINITELY NEVER SERVED NOR ORDERED. The time of this additional beverage added to my tab was the exact same time as a food order and beverage was served to the other patron; the bartender/waitress had at that time asked if I needed another beverage and I responded that I 'was good' since I still had half of my original. THIS INTERACTION, TOO, WAS CONFIRMED DEFINITIVELY BY THE OTHER PATRON. The cause of the undetected error was that the tab in question was rung up retroactively instead of being started and maintained continuously from the moment I sat down and ordered. Furthermore, and as proof of the previous statement, the tab was mistakenly rung up and delivered as a COMBINED check for myself and other patron, when he alone was ready to leave and requested HIS check, even though other patron arrived and ordered almost ONE FULL HOUR after I sat down and ordered, AND a combined check was never requested by either, but was merely retroactively assumed by waitress when ringing up check. The added item was mistakenly entered by bartender/waitress who was doubling as the only waitress for entire upper seating area of restaurant. This was a simple honest mistake by an overworked bartender/waitress that we assumed initially would be readily and quickly corrected. However bartender/waitress and mgr ********** insisted that the extra beverage was ordered and served and refused to correct the check, insisting on payment for a phantom item.
