      Business response

      11/08/2021

To Whom it May ****************** are writing in response to the Better Business Bureau Complaint ID: ********.

First, apologies for the delay in response. The email contact to which the initial BBB complaint notifications were sent is no longer in use. The correct information has been updated with Better Business Bureau to alleviate any contact problems in the future.

After being notified via duplicate reviews on other review sites of this same complaint, *** Block & Brick conducted a thorough investigated into the claims made by *************************. In response to the claim that *** Block & Brick shared his personal information, we can only say that *** Block & Brick takes the protection of all personal information very seriously. We did not, nor would we ever, share any personal information with employees, customers, other businesses, churches, or any other entity unless required to by law.

If it helps, we would like to share a brief overview of our findings on what transpired

***** (Complainant) attends church and has a personal relationship with *** (One of our long-time employees). ***** and *** were talking at church when ***** mentioned that he was looking for employment. *** suggested that ***** submit an employment application to one of the *** retail sales locations. *** then contacted the hiring manager and asked that they work to find a position for ***** as a favor because, hes a good kid. The hiring manager, knowing that we were already fully staffed, obliged and called ***** in for an interview.

The initial interview went well, but there were simply no open positions at that time. Two weeks later, the hiring manager informed ***** that they had found a potential position for him, but that he needed to come back in to fill out some hiring paperwork in order to get the ball rolling. ***** did not come in to fill out the paperwork as scheduled. The hiring manager followed up with ***** two more times over the next few of weeks, but with no response. The hiring manager then contacted *** (as that was the person to which he was doing a favor in hiring *****) to see if *** could touch base with ***** and ask him to call back. This worked, and ***** contacted the hiring manager. ***** then came in to pick up the needed paperwork, leaving with the plan that he would fill it out and return it at a later date.

This was the last official contact we had with *****. *** later inquired with the hiring manager about the progress of the position for *****, and the hiring manager let *** know that we were just waiting for the paperwork to be returned.

While we do perform initial drug tests and criminal background checks on all of our employees before hiring, ***** did not get to this step as we never had his initial paperwork to begin the hiring process.

I can only assume that any awkwardness or feelings of embarrassment between ***** and *** might stem from *** feeling like he put his reputation on the line by personally vouching for *****, and then ***** not following through. Whatever their personal relationship is at church, or anywhere else, has nothing to do with *** Block & Brick.

Please let me know if you need any more information on this particular review. I hope this email is sufficient in explaining the situation and returning our BBB rating to the A+ is has been for so many years.

      Thank you,
