On or about August 15, 2021, I filled out the contact form on the West Coast Data Recovery website and then emailed the lead engineer ******* *******, who specializes in retrieving data from broken flash drives and hard drives, according to his website. I reached out to him because my SanDisk flash drive was not responding to my computer, and I could not access an entire life's worth of photos and videos of my family, friends, and fond memories. A few days later, Mr. ******* responded saying I could come into his office on the Friday of that week. I met with him and he evaluated my flash drive for free. He told me that if he fixed the drive, the total cost would be $300, which I agreed to. He said there would be no charge if he could not fix the drive and would make sure that even if he could not fix it, he would put the flash drive back together so that other companies I contacted could work on the flash drive without issues from his tampering with it. He had me sign a form and told me he would reach out to me within the next week. I received no update, and when I emailed him on September 28, 2021 and October 7, 2021 I received no reply. I continued to call and email, but there was no reply. He never emailed nor called me back from what I know. When I called him again in December of 2021, I listened to his voicemail, where he said that he is no longer operating in Long Beach and has relocated to Tennessee. He said that if anyone has a pending case with him, he still has the item that they gave to him, and he said that he would reach out in the "coming weeks" to discuss shipping the item back to return it to the client. It has been nearly 9 months and I have received no information nor updates from him whatsoever. I have also attempted to contact him through LinkedIn and Facebook messenger, which yielded no result. My flash drive is still with him according to what he said in the voicemail. I want my flash drive fixed and I want it returned to me immediately.
