On January9, 2024, BBB Serving Los Angeles and Silicon Valley requestedthat the business substantiate, modify, or discontinue claims on the company's website, https://courtsidemediapress.com/.BBB requested that the business clarify their relationship with the advertisedorganizations advertised on their website (Amazon,Barnes & Noble, Ingram, The New York Times, Pacific Book Review, KirkusReviews, Publishers Weekly, and Foreword Reviews). BBB alsorequested that the business substantiate, modify, or discontinue the followingclaims: “THE BEST LITERARY MARKETING FIRM,” “Take the road lesstravelled with the best literary marketing firm,” and “Our books can be foundjust about everywhere ... and tons of other online retailers.”
The BBB Code of Advertising states, “1.1 The primary responsibility fortruthful and non-deceptive advertising rests with the advertiser. Advertisersshould be prepared to substantiate any objective claims or offers made beforepublication or broadcast. Upon request, they should present such substantiationpromptly to the advertising medium or BBB. 1.2 Advertisements which are untrue,misleading, deceptive, fraudulent, falsely disparaging of competitors, orinsincere offers to sell, shall not be used. 1.3 An advertisement as a wholemay be misleading by implication, although every sentence separately consideredmay be literally true. 1.4 Misrepresentation may result not only from directstatements, but by omitting or obscuring a material fact.”
The BBB Code of Advertising also states,“21.1 The composition and layout of advertisements should be such as tominimize the possibility of misunderstanding by the reader. 21.1.1 For example,prices, illustrations or descriptions must not be so placed or displayed in anadvertisement as to give the impression that the price or terms of featuredproducts or services apply to other products or services in the advertisement, whensuch is not the case.”
