My wife and I purchased a new house and hired J. Doran Electric to install a new electrical system. He completed the majority of the work for us from March 2022 through May 2022 of this year. He sent us two invoices amounting to $12,531.00 - Invoice # **** $ 9,500, Invoice # **** $ 3,031. Total = $12,531.00. He also sent us an invoice for the remaining $300.00 but told us on July 6, 2022 "...a balance of $300.00 which will be due when the last of the lights go in. The recent invoice you received was sent out automatically as part of my billing program. I told ****** to ignore that until the work is complete". We paid him a total of $12,231.00 for his services in four installments - 3/25/22 - $1,900.00, 4/7/22 - $4,500.00, 4/28/22 - $3,031.00, 5/5/22 - $2,800.00. This payment included work that was not completed: the installation of light fixtures, making can lights fully dimmable, investigating and fixing the fan he installed in the bathroom, repairing or fixing fire alarms he installed, adding light switches and face plates to electrical outlets & controls, and finishing labeling the new circuit breaker / switch box he installed for us. After many emails and calls, **** came back to the house on July 21 to review the work and discuss potential additions to the original contract. We spent 45 minutes walking through the house where we discussed, in detail, all of the work that was included but not completed in the current contract, and additional work we would like him to estimate and potentially swap with included work. On July 22, he was scheduled to come by the house to continue working but did not. I called him and we discussed that he would like a week to come up with an estimate for the final work and would be able to finish the work the following week. Since July 22, I have been unable to get in touch with ****. I have called him 11 times, sent him 4 emails and 1 txt message. We seek immediate reimbursement for incomplete and insufficient work.
