I am writing this based on my experience today and previous: I paid early for TWO classes for the Adult Classs and the one on Thurs was great (I almost landed my tuck front twist!!!!!) and ************* as a coach. I also accomplished my running front tuck and was working on my front handspring. So naturally, I was excited and looking forward to Sunday. I got up early and really worked hard to be ready for this class with ******. Up to that point, I had no problems at all and so I arrived there 10 min earlier and then went outside to stretch some more. I went to the restroom and came back out and was confronted by ****** about my "provocative" shorts. The general consensus was that people could see how "well-endowed" I am. I was told that other people complained (even though no one brought anything to my attention). I had been going to that gym for almost a year and took private lessons. Previously, I was told that I "couldn't stretch on the floor." I explained to ****** that some of the people in the class and children were wearing clothes that were even tighter than mine and showing off body parts. I left there feeling TOTALLY discriminated against and unheard. I notified the supervisor who informed me that the General Manager would like a meeting with me and that she was writing an email in support of me. I'm upset because it (1) completely ruined my day, (2) denigrated me as an African American TOTALLY, (3) disregarded me as a person in general. I drove from Whittier (***** minutes ONE WAY) just to get there! I never said anything to anyone because my goal was to accomplish everything that I set out to do. I could not and can not understand why I am being held to a different standard outside of the fact that I am a black man (one of the FEW black men that are taking lessons in the gym). I am shocked and disappointed because I completed my first front flip layout and tuck there. Totally denigrating and yes, disgusting behavior and very high school or juvenile!
