I took my scrap gold to this lady and asked if she can make me a Cuban Miami chain in WHITE gold, since all the scrap gold I took was yellow gold. She said YES and said it would be ******* and she would have it done in TWO weeks! I took her 30Grams of 14K gold and 3 Grams of 24k gold. Once you convert the 24 k gold into 14 k gold you will have approximately 5.15grams of 14k gold. So In total I left her 35grams of 14k gold. TWO days before the chain was SUPPOSE to be done I called her to see the status of the chain. She at this point tells me..... oh my machine that makes those chains broke and well I can make you a different link chain if you want. I told her NO!! I can wait til she fixes her machine because I want the Miami Cuban link I had requested. She then told me that it would be another two weeks for her to be able to "fix" the machine. Now my first issue here is that TWO days before my chain was supposedly said to be done she couldn't call me and tell me that it wasn't going to be ready? I'm sure the chain was suppose to have gotten worked on way before then. We went back and forth for several days then afterwards she told me she was going to have a "friend" do it on his machine but that she was going charge me **** instead of the **** she had told me. I told her I didn't want to pay more than what we had agreed and that I just wanted my scrap gold back. She said ok come get it. That afternoon I callled her and told her to have my scrap gold there in her shop because I would be passing by to pick it up. At this point she said ohhh no I already left it with a friend and he's going to make you the chain you wanted. And it should be done by Monday. Monday which is TODAY came around and I went to go pick up the chain she tells me. Oh when we melted your gold some gold was lost your chain came out 28 grams, when home I weighed my chain and it was actually 27grams. Which means she stole 8 grams of my gold. I want her to return the stolen gold to me. She's a thief

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/04/05) */ ***************** Complaint Specialist BBB Complaint Dep. Response to RE:Case#*******:*********** In response to the accusations made from the customer, this is the first time I'm hearing back from her since we made the transaction. She's never made a complaint to us regarding any disagreement. She reached up to us to melt down some 14K yellow scrap gold to make a chain out of it. She left 35 grams of 14K gold and the total weight of the chain is 27 grams of 14K gold. She paid $250 for the labor just to clarify. Typically losses from refining gold are 2%-4.5% from mass processed and another 2.5%-7.5% on assay or under carat losses. And this information can be verified online or any jeweler can confirm. This is what we explained to her when she picked up her chain and she agreed, paid and left. By nature law, It's impossible that you get 100% of the weight of scrap gold once is melted, refined and converted into something else. Therefore every gram that she's claiming was lost in the process and we are not upholding anything from her. I encourage the customer to educate herself deeper on this matter before making such false accusations, and most importantly using YELP to hurt my business out of ignorance. ******, even though I have explained the process and reason of mass losses on scrap gold, I'm willing to give 4 grams of yellow scrap gold to the customer in exchange to give this claim a closure and deleting the bad review on YELP. Thank you for your time and if you have any questions or suggestions please reach out to me and I'll be glad to listen. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/04/13) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) First and foremost, this is not the first time I expressed my concerns to her. Upon picking up my piece of jewelry I brought my concern to her attention advising her that I was missing several grams of gold. There was another lady there with her at the time who advised me that there might have been a discrepancy on the grams because there might have been stones left on the gold. However, I explain to this individual that upon leaving my gold I took off all the stones for the same reason and that is when the lady weight what I was leaving and confirmed it was 30 g of 14 karat gold and 3 g of 24 karat gold, which I have a photo of. At no point did I expect to get back 100% of the weight I left to get melted. I understand that in the melting and refining process some gold is lost. However, I knew for a fact that I was not going to lose 8 g of gold. I am not a professional jeweler but I do know based off research I've done that you lose 1%-2.5% mass losses and another 1.5% - 2.5% on under-carat losses. These losses of weight may occur when there is still stones left on the gold but as I mentioned before I took all of the stones off before leaving my gold. At this point if she's willing to give me back 4 g of gold then she knows that the transaction of my purchase was not done in good faith. I feel that the amount of gold she kept of mine was her way of trying to use those grams to break even and collect the amount of $450 as she was trying to charge me after our original agreement of $250. I have lost the trust in this establishment and therefore I do not want gold back. At this point I don't trust the gold being actual gold. I just want my $250 back. Once I have received my money back, I am willing to close this claim and remove the bad review on Yelp.
