June 1, 2024 I received an email asking for payment for a photo used in a document. I do not know what photos or documents they are referring to have received no correspondence from this company. As stated on the BBB website for this company, an Alert says this company will never ask for payment in cryptocurrency. The email I received stated the settlement could be made in cryptocurrency. In addition, neither of the links in the email sent from this company works. Here is the message I received:From: ***** Bath ******************************* Subject: Intellectual Property Infringement on skippertips.com Message:Hi We have tried contacting you via your social media and email, but are yet to receive a response.It has come to our attention that you are using our client's photographs on skippertips.com without a valid licence.We have already posted out all supporting documents to the address of your office. Please confirm once you have received them.In the meantime, we would like to invite you to settle this dispute by making the below payment of ?500.Visual Rights Group *** KBC Bank London IBAN: *************************** Account Number: ******** Sort Code: ******** Alternatively, you can also pay with cryptocurrency with a 50% discount.Wallet Addresses:Bitcoin: bc1q4206tlzgldnr3efu44hf9m6qm329ztzxhqfxdw Ethereum: 0xa74cce7805342F10df39B698342380f58bB709b5 Once you have made the payment, please email us with your payment reference number. Dear ****,
Our email was hacked by scammers a couple of months ago and this is a phishing attempt. Please disregard and delete it. They have sent thousands of these out and we have an IT security team as well as the US Marshal looking into it. We are sorry for the inconvenience and are doing everything we can to stop it. That is why we have posted warnings on our websites as well as here on the BBB to alert people about this issue.
