This past weekend had my car towed due to an accident. The tow company drove directly to the nearest gas station and held my car hostage. I had to call the police back to resolve the situation as the tow truck driver refused to communicate with me and locked himself up in the cabin of his truck. When the police arrived, he exited the cabin and agreed to let my car down. He then called his office and they sent me a text invoice for $504.00. I had no recourse at the time and paid in full. I would like this amount to be adjusted to the fair price. Thank you, ***Business response

Upon the driver arriving to the call, the driver approached the officer to make him aware of his arrival. The driver asked the officer if it was a 180 or and owner's request. The officer on scene said he was not sure but to start hooking up the car because the vehicle was partially blocking the slow lane. Once the driver hooked up the car, he drove off the freeway to a *********** station (2610 n. *************. ********** ca.). Once at the gas station the R/O provided the driver with an address in ************** (**************************************). The driver reported back to dispatch to create a quote and the R/O was unhappy with the price. The driver also offered the R/O to drop the vehicle off the freeway with a charge of $252 but the R/O declined. He mentioned that he didn't have to pay anything and demanded the driver to drop the vehicle without paying. He started threating the driver by saying he wanted to fight him. At this point the driver began fearing for his life and locked himself inside the tow truck and reported to dispatch what was happening. The R/O then began pounding on the tow truck doors and windows trying to unlock the driver's door and at one point he jumped on the flatbed and tried to turn on his car to reverse it to drive it off. After he unsuccessfully attempt to turn on his vehicle, the R/O approached the driver by knocking on his window and began yelling at the driver and demanded to unload the car. The driver informed him that CHP was made aware of the incident and they were on the way. The driver was afraid and didn't want to come out of the truck until CHP was on scene. The R/O then went around the tow truck to the back area and sat down on the grass to wait. At approximately 5:45-5:50am CHP arrived. The R/O informed the officer his side of the story and the officer told the R/O that he needed to pay the fee, or they were going to write a 180 and the vehicle was going to get impounded. The R/O ended up paying the fee and the driver dropped the vehicle. The total time from the time we received the call to the time the driver dropped the vehicle after the R/O paid, took 152 minutes (2.5hrs.) which we only charged him 2hrs.
