I called CNW to give me an estimate for trimming a few trees in my backyard. I was given a written estimate for $2000. After contacting a few other tree services in the area, I called CNW back to see if they would give me any discount off that price they said no. They called me back the next day and said they reduce price to 1875.00I agreed. They came a week later and did the work they said the cost would be 2000.00I contacted the office manager and she claims they never made that offer. However I have phone records that show I called them twice on February 6 and they called me back with the offer on February 7. also, when my wife offered to pay with the credit card, they said there would be a 10% fee added it states right on there written offer a 4% fee would be added. my wife and I are both retired on a fixed income and feel they are taking advantage of seniors. id like to see a negative review for their company.Business response

We have received notification from the BBB in response to your recent complaint.
On 2/2/24 we received a call from ************************* to schedule an estimate to trim four trees on his property. We set up the appointment for Monday 2/5/24 between 10am and 12pm.
On 2/6/24 we called with a follow up and left a voice mail asking if he had any questions or if he wanted to go forward with the proposal.
On 2/6/24 ************************* called back asking for a lower price. We reached out to our estimator and he explained it was a fair price and we had already applied the 20% off discount that we offer in that area.
On 2/7/24 at 1:51pm ****** spoke to the office, we let him know we could not apply any other discounts and he accepted the offer and booked his work to be done on 2/26/24 arrival time between 8am and 12pm.
On 2/26/24 the office received a call from *********************** (***************************** wife), asking if she could pay by credit card. We informed her there would be a 4% Merchant Service fee for using your credit card, which would be $80.00 additionally. She said, she didnt want to pay the fee and would prefer to pay with a check. Upon completion of the job *********************** told our lead ******* that she would pay by credit card and that the total amount was $1,875.00 for the job, he informed her that the estimate was $2,000.00. She told him the guy told her it was going to be $1,875.00 (meaning our estimator).
After receiving a check from them in the amount of $1,875.00 the office called and informed them of their payment mistake. ************************* did not agree and was adamant that he was given 25% off and continued to say he should have got it in writing. He also threatened to write a bad review on Yelp and put in a complaint to BBB.
Should you need any further clarification, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Warm Regards,

I am rejecting this response because:
On 2/6/2024 I called C&W to ask if they could do any better on the price. A women in the office said she would get back to me.Later that afternoon I received a call from a women at C&W that was the best price. And did I want to schedule the work. I told her no. ( I was waiting for a few other estimates.)
On 2/7/2024 I received a phone from a woman at C&W telling me she got the OK for a 25 percent discount. And asked if I want to schedule. I said yes as long as they agreed to a discount, and I scheduled the work to be done. I an happy with the work. I should have gotten it in writing. But Ive had my own business for over 25 year. With most of my customers their word is good enough.
If look at the picture from my phone it clearly shows who called who.
As from as the 10 percent for CC I apologize I asked my wife and she confirmed she was quoted 4%
Sincerely,
