On 8/23/2021******** attempted a root canal on tooth #19: chart ******. The tooth had two anterior canals that were treated, and one posterior canal the was missed. Searching for the posterior canal,******** excavated healthy tissue that destabilized the integrity of the tooth, exposed bone unnecessarily, and left the infected posterior canal untreated. On 9/27/2021, at a follow-up visit, viewing an xray,******** did not complete the root canal, but recused himself and referred me to another dentist to complete the root canal. He ordered his office manager to refund the cost of the root canal; an admission of guilt that he had bungled the root canal. Because of the prolonged procedure, my jaw became dislocated. Post root canal,******** prescribed chlorhexidine mouthwash which severely stained my mouth, teeth, and tongue. He ordered a cleaning at no charge: another admission of guilt. At the cleaning appt. I discovered that there was no hygienist on staff and that******** had assigned an assistant to do a "polishing." When I questioned whether she was qualified to do a cleaning, ******** had instructed her to work "above the gumline." I agreed to the "polishing" only because the staining was so extreme and unattractive. On 9/27/2021, I contacted the dentist that******** had referred me to. I was told that dentist could not complete the root canal until 10/11/2021: by this date I would have had the incomplete root canal for seven weeks and I had been in constant pain from the still infected tooth. Putting********'s referring dentist aside, I sought care from another dentist,**** R and an endodontist that both came highly recommended. Through**** R and the endodontist, I saw the xray evidence of the damage******** had caused that now required a re-treatment root canal and extensive repair to restore the tooth to viability. The long-term health of tooth #19 remains uncertain. I seek only repayment for the cost to repair the damage done to tooth *** by****.****.
