In April 2021, BBB investigated Modify Student Loans' business practices. This investigation was prompted by a BBB Scam Tracker report. The report shared concerns regarding the business charging advanced fees and potentially providing services without proper licensing.
BBB reached out to the business by email on April 21, 2021 requesting the following documentation be submitted to BBB:
- Please provide an explanation of your fees and timelines.
- Please provide copies of sales scripts.
- Please provide information on the full services that the company offers including document preparation.- Please provide a copy of your Department of Financial Protection and Innovation license or proof of exemption. If you already have a license and we couldn’t find it, please provide a copy.
In addition, BBB also sent the company an SBQ (Standard Business Questionnaire) form to obtain more information on the business, its structure, management, etc., however the business failed to return the form.
As of April 30, 2021, the business has not responded to BBB’s request.
