Received solicitation call from Fresh Air -air duct cleaning services on 7/3/24 from a guy named ***** who said his office was in *********, **. That same day an agent named ******* who said he lives in *******, CA came to the house to do an inspection and give an estimate of the costs. *** started telling some stories to establish rapport with us. He quoted us $1400. When we asked him if the price is alright, he said it is suppose to be $2000-2200 but since I was a senior and retired military the price is $1800 minus 20% discount which was a total of $1400. He wanted the payment upfront, so we gave him a check for the $1400. He did not give a receipt, nor any business card, but said that they would come back the next day to start the job. On 7/4/24, 2 guys came and cleaned the vents and were asking for payment when they were done, we told them that we already paid Uzi the day before. *** then emailed a copy of the invoice to my daughter. The invoice listed 2 services, the air duct cleaning service for $950.00 and the ** tune up & filter replacement for $450.00. I called back Uzi to let him know that the 2 men never did an ** tune up & filter replacement. Also that we only have a furnace and no **, so I requested a refund of the $450.00 for that part of the job that was never completed. I received a call back from a guy claiming he was the owner of the business and said that they don't give refunds and would only come back to complete the job. Well we don't have an ** so there's nothing to tune up and an air filter replacement only costs about $10, so I want the $450 refunded. I then called the business Air Essentials to compare costs. Air Essentials quoted me a price of $975 with a 10% discount for seniors which ended up totaling only $877. So I want to file a complaint first of all for Fresh Air Business overcharging their service and taking advantage and scamming elderly seniors. I would like a refund for the $450.
