On November 19, 2022 I purchased 4 waist beads for $15 each at Arts Africains in ************* the total was $66.30. A few days later I noticed a charge to my credit card for $6630.10! I immediately disputed the charge with **** of America and sent in my original receipt however this merchant created a fake receipt and sent it to the **** of America. I spoke with a representative from **** of America on January 13, 2023 and they stated upon closer review the merchants fake receipt has major discrepancies such as a different time of purchase, different company address, does not detail the items allegedly purchased for $6k it just says "custom.I escalated to the bank and they are starting a new investigation into the charges since their initial investigation missed such obvious signs of fraud. I believe this Arts Africains intentionally targeted me for this scam because I look like a younger woman and they assumed I would be too naive to understand how to appropriately report them. The fact that they intentionally created and sent a fake receipt to **** of America shows unequivocally this merchant is acting maliciously and attempting to defraud **** of America and me. This incident will have lasting financial and emotional impact on my everyday life due to the fact that this fraudulent charge is being incorrectly reported to the major credit bureaus and I no longer have access to my primary credit card for daily usage. Please help me!
