We took our cat *** I Am to Mission Animal and Bird Hospital on 1/24/2022 for ear hematoma surgery, his second hematoma. We required setting up a payment plan at Mission Hospital, as we were not in a financial position to pay several thousand dollars for our pets surgery. It was imperative that the hematoma be removed. The hematoma surgeries were the first time we have needed financial assistance. The hospital manager, ************************* knew about up upcoming suture removal charges yet failed to disclose the information upfront. Instead she waited until 2/1/2022, stating she didnt want us to be caught off guard, when she had known about them all along. They were part of the veterinarians surgical plan for our cat. Veterinarians dont plan to use sutures without also planning to remove them. As a result the suture removal charges were not included in our negotiations to set up a payment plan. Because they were not included, my pet insurance will not cover them. Mission is now expecting us to pay whatever amount they finally decide upon before they will remove our pets sutures next week, on 2/7/2022. The amount has changed twice since 2/1/2022, ranging from $379 to $750. I have reached out to ************************* at Mission Hospital to request adding the suture removal cost added to the balance of the payment plan I arranged for the surgery. She has refused. We have been taking our pets to Mission Hospital for over ten years. We have two cats. *** developed a fear of the hospital (the reason unknown) and began acting out towards the staff. As a result we were required to allow him to be sedated for all medical procedures. Due to Mission Hospitals failure to disclose upfront all the costs associated with our pets surgical care when we were arranging a payment plan, we feel we should either not be charged extra for our cats suture removal sedation on 2/7/2022 or we should be allowed to add this cost to the payment plan balance. Please communicate by email as I am deaf
