I purchased 2 new direct fit catalytic converters directly from Magnaflow. Per diagnostic at mechanic one of the two, the passenger side, catalytic converter is bad. I emailed Magnaflow a diagnostic print out they asked for proving the catalytic converter has failed. I spoke to the manager of Magnaflow **** and he said he would have a ******* in customer support/tech support email me a code do I could repurchase the same part essentially for free as itd be a warranty exchange and Id be sending back the defective part I purchased. I never received the email the manager told me I would get but instead. Theyre giving me the runaround just like the many other people who have left negative reviews as theyre seemingly not wanting to warranty their defective product or return my money.

On May 3 I ordered a catalytic converter from, what I thought, was MagnaFlow, a manufacturer of catalytic converters. It turned out that this purchase was not from the manufacturer, but a third party broker. I paid $837.60. I completed the form with 100% accuracy detailing the make, model and other information of the vehicle for which this part was being purchased. Nevertheless, the wrong catalytic converter was shipped. When a full refund was requested, it was refused. It was at this time that I learned that the purchase had been made through a company called Hottexhaust, and which was not a direct affiliate of MagnaFlow. Hottexhaust claims that Magnaflow demanded a restocking fee and Hottexhaust deducted $209.40 from my refund to cover this fee. Magnaflow has denied that it is demanding this fee. It is my belief that both Hottexhaust and Magnaflow are colluding in order to intentionally defraud customers. It is my belief that the parties were fully aware that this was not the proper part for my vehicle, and that this part was sent with the scheme to keep a percentage of the refund amount. From reading similar accounts of customers who have been refused refunds, this appears to be a an organized attempt to defraud that *** be subject ***** Should the BBB be unable to assist with resolving this matter, it will be necessary to employ the courts and, because this matter involves an entity located in ******, the appropriate state and federal law enforcement agencies.

On February 11th, 2023, I purchased a MagnaFlow Cat-Back Exhaust System, NEO Series from hottexhaust.com which they are an authorized MagnaFlow vendor. On January 24th, 2024, I contacted hottexhaust.com for assistance with a rattling sound coming from the two loosen carbon fiber exhaust tips of the cat-back exhaust system. They informed me that the rattling issue seemed to be a manufacturers defect. And to contact MagnaFlow directly for a solution. On January 25th, 2024, I emailed MagnaFlow for assistance. I explained to them the issue with the exhaust system carbon fiber tips. On the same day, I received an automatic reply with a case number which is 00307364.On February 22nd, 2024 (about almost a month later), I hadnt received a reply from a MagnaFlow technical support staff. So therefore, I called them directly. After the telephone conversation with a technical staff, I was emailed he following: Per our phone call please provide me with the vehicle VIN, proof of purchase, as well as photos of the exhaust as well as the video showing the rattling noise you are experiencing. On February 29th, 2024, I replied to the email stating: I'm able to provide everything requested on the email below except a video showing the rattling. I've tried recording the rattling by using several devices. However, the low rattling pitch noise/sound is not being picked up/recorded by the devices when the vehicle is at idle. Then at higher RPMs, it records the sound of the exhaust output since I must raise the RPMs for the rattling to be louder. It's a tough one.Note: I will provide further details about my complaint on a document attached to this complaint.

-March 6th 2019 I purchased a replacement catalytic converter manufactured by magnaflow and branded for Endlessrpm.com. for $497(i have invoice but cannot leave page w/out starting over) Magnaflow's warranty states 5yrs or 50k miles. I haven't driven 50k miles in 4 years. -In early 2022 I noticed a rattling coming from undercarriage. -I searched and took it to a few places and nobody could find it until I replaced my resonator the beginning of this year.-With the catback off the muffler mechanic showed me the catalytic substrate moving around and said I should get it replaces.-I forgot about it until my daughter saw a piece of metal fly out of the exhaust. So I consulted a ******** car group and I got multiple replies stating that it was most assuredly from the catalytic converter.-I emailed ***************** at Endless to ask and he said he contacted Magnaflow and gave me there their response:"This is not a piece of the substrate/catalyst, the substrate is corrugated and isnt shaped like that and there is nothing else it could have come from. It could be a scrap piece from the *** system or whatever he had on there. To me, it looks like a layer of tubing or sheet metal that was tractor welded to another piece (which is common in *** mufflers), we have no components on that J-pipe that are tractor welded."-Magnaflow also manufactured my aftermarket mufflers. But I have not been able to bring that up with them as of yet.-So I emailed Magnaflow and opened a warranty ticket. After supplying them all the requested info they said it had been too long. That was a bold-faced lie. I have until March 6 ****. So then they said to contact the retailer. I did.-Endless is repeating their response and saying that I could send in the part (that is currently attached to my car)in to Magnaflow for inspection. I am willing to drive down to Oceanside but the way this is going I think they will just tell me to call back to Endless.-I am also filing a complaint for Endless

I purchased an exhaust from magnaflow a few years back and have recently had issues with the exhaust system, I purchased it through a 3rd party vendor and dont have the old email from the receipt/proof of purchase. I have all of the warranty documents. The exhaust seams are failing and I would like to be reimbursed or have the system replaced or even partially replaced. Magnaflow is expecting me to locate an email from years ago providing proof of purchase l, yet I have their exhaust system and the proper warranty documents that came with it. Their parts are failing and I believe it needs to be replaced. They also know it needs to be replaced but arent replacing it because I cannot find the email from the v vendor from years ago.

I purchase a product on October 2013, (catalytic converter - *****) from among various other products with the understanding my product would be covered by manufacturers warranty ''against blowouts and defects in material and workmanship for as long as the original purchaser owns the vehicle on which it was originally installed.''During 2020 I needed the device replaced on my vehicle (**** **** Focus ZX5 Vin:'3') due to PepBoys Automotive Repair inspection of a defect in the product. I was not able to ''get or receive assistance'' from the distributor (*****************) or the manufacturer (Magnaflow ) due to the pandemic situation. Recently, in September 2021, I was able to get assistance in which ***************** stated: ''Magnaflow refuses to accept warranty claims outside of 5 years timeframe'' and Magnaflow stated: ''this warranty claim is declined at this time as you are out of the warranty timeframe''.I wish to open a case, and have my product warrantied, receive service of old product in which $270.76 was spent . I currently have installed a ''new product'' (catalytic converter ***** $ as replacement) with the defect product boxed awaiting an RMA for delivery to manufacturer for customer service coverage purchased.I will try to recover my 2020 emails and communications for submittal.

      Hello,

I have reviewed this case and concluded that the original verdict still stands.  Correct, this was outside of the 5yr warranty period but would like to add more context.  Please see attached flyer discussing catalytic converts and why they fail.  Our warranty covers construction defects, typically if there was any issue with the construction of the converter it would be discovered within the first few weeks or months of installation.  Essentially,if a core was to come loose due to defective construction, it wouldnt have lasted over 5yrs of function service.  If there were a defect with the material composition within the substrate, it wouldve failed emissions testing upon installation, if not throwing an error code shortly after, again, not over 5yrs later.  In terms of blowouts, those are symptoms of run conditions upstream in the motor, a converter is not the cause of these conditions and it being degraded to the point of breakage is a result of an existing issue or issues, to which a converter couldnt cause on its own.  Even  the *** converters are only covered  for 8yrs and those are produced by the same manufacturer who made the motor and configured all the *** tuning from new.  Being an aftermarket manufacturer, unfortunately we cannot account for extended variables apart from the product we produce beyond our 5yr limited Construction warranty or 25K mile limited Emissions warranty (which you were outside of on both parameters).  I do apologize for any confusion around our terms but hope that this message adds some clarity for closure on your end, thank you.
