Business ProfileforStafford Group and Associates

In April 2023, BBB investigated Stafford Group and Associates' business practices. This investigation was prompted by an increase in consumer inquiries received by the BBB. It is alleged that the business fails to validate the debt before contacting consumers and fails to provide validations when its requested by consumers; threatens consumers with legal actions; shares debt information with 3rd parties and places multiple calls to the consumer throughout the day.

On April 3, 2023, BBB sent the company a Business Practice Inquiry through e-mail to request the following information:
- A written description detailing your company's collection services;
- Copies of all scripts for telephone operations used at any time in the past 30 days;
- Process of how business validates the debt before contacting consumers;
- Timeline on when validation notice is sent to a consumer;
- A list of states where the business is registered to offer services, including a copy of any licenses;

As of April 11, 2023, the business has not responded to BBB's request.

Consumers with outstanding concerns are still encouraged to file a complaint for BBB records, but may also wish to contact their local Attorney General's Office, and/or file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission or/and Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.
