I tried filling a complaint with the BBB, I'm not sure what happened. This will be my second attempt to report this company. Service: Roof installation Critical: January 2021 was the time frame.I decided to use this A1 Roofing Company, to replace my roof, huge mistake! The owner ****** assured me I was receiving quality, for the amount I was paying 18k.The actual roofing job was contracted to ***** Roofing System, located at *****************************************************, owner ******. (Without my knowledge or consent).Everything appeared to be going well until I noticed all the damages caused by ***** Roofing Systems. The flash gaurd was installed and it looks like a child attempted to do the work. The worker made a liner cut (across the front of my house) which was too thick and the flash gaurd was painted poorly, using with spray paint. I asked what was going to be done, to fix the problem. I was told it would get covered when I got the house repainted.?? What a joke. Then I noticed the wood on my patio overhang was not put back properly. When I advised ****** he told me the workers didn't touch the overhang, but a section of the over hang was removed to install the roof.??They wrong nails which pierced through the wood over lay around the perimeter of my house. Due to the damage cause the workers did a paint over to camouflage the damage done.I tried calling ****** mutiple times. He told me he was out of the office and he would call me back. After that ****** did not return my future calls or messages. I called ****** who told me he was a sick and I need to contact *************** problem is that I paid ****** not ******, so im not sure what their side agreement was. At this point I have repeatedly contacted both ****** and ******.To be continued.....I will provide an update.Warning to the wise dont use either company

      Hi

      Regarding the complain from ***************************

Re-re-roof her house on January 2021

Roof was in very bad condition. Water was leaking into the house.

We tore off the roof, repaired the roof as ne***sary, and we installed new roof on her house with the permit and the warranty

      On January 2022

She complained regarding the flashing on the front of the house, which is not part of a roofing scope of work

And be fixed and paint the flashing

And we took care of the issue with your hair patio and the nails on overhang and be painted

****** which he is from ***** roofing company

Hes been in contact with her

And I was physically not able to work last year due to my hip replacement surgery

And I believe she called me and I told her that Im sick ,she need to talk to ******

And this year again shes complaining the same thing about flashing which ****** did  take it off the flashing for her last year

Roof its been inspected and passed inspection from Contra Costa County inspector and the roof is not the leaking after all this rain we had this year and the roof stand up with a very high wind which we experience in last few weeks

And Ive been trying to get a hold of her by text message and voice message two different time and no response

Me and ******, we are willing to go to see her on February 27, which I mentioned that on her text message No respond

      From *****

Were trying so hard to please her and I believe she thinks that this is part of her blogging that she does.

at this point, I dont see anything wrong with her flashing or roof leaking or any damage and Im still willing to go to see if theres any other damages

I hope  business bureau will take a note of that. Thank you.

I am rejecting this response because:

On 3/3/2023 about **** hours, I advised ****** via text message  ********************************* was no longer ne***sary.  I advised ****** I did Not want him or anyone he contracts with on my property.   Due to his lack of integrity and being a very dishonest and unprofessional individual.

I also requested ****** cease and desist from making contact with me and or giving false information about me. I have decided to not continue business of any kind with ******.  I should have done better research prior to choosing his business, so I'll take this loss.

For the record I want to end this investigation because I want nothing to do with ****** or his company.

      Sincerely,

      Hi ***

We finished all the issues that she have with painting, flashing and debris. Its all done and shes satisfied. We did that three times already for the last two years.

We did the roof during the pandemic on January 2021 and labor shortages and materials shortages

We did the job professionally and be repaired all the dry rot?

And we take care of all the issues with the paint patch and I was very honest to her all the way through and Im still do. She had the warranty of 10 years which is two years hes already passed and a lifetime warranty for her shingles.

Price that she paid was very low for the amount of job that we did for her. I did not ask her for any extra money because there was no sour***.

Ive done nothing but trying to be nice and professional to her and I continue to do that as long as I can and I am able.

******( Roofer) ****** hes been very patient every time she called. Weve been going back there and taking care of whatever issue that she thinks is wrong.

Many of her issues is due to regulate of her house like painting, taking dry, rot, well dry rot

And these are not part of the roof

I hope this will to put end of this complain

      Thank you

***** ******** Demand Letter of A-1 Roofing On December 2021, I, ***** ********, contracted A-1 Roofing i.e. ****** ******* to replace my entire roof located at *** ******* ****** ******* *** ****** ******* advised me that his company A1 Roofing was skillful, competent, licensed and bonded. ****** ******* charged me $18,000.00 for the project. I, ***** ********, always paid each installment on time per our written contractual agreement. Upon completion of the project, I observed unsatisfactory workmanship from the beginning. There were hundreds of nails that had penetrated the roof’s over hang perimeter of my home. I notified ****** ******* of the situation. In my opinion, ****** ******* sent out a team of unqualified workers to fix the issue using the paint I provided amongst other resour***. I also noticed other flaws to my home which were observed upon the completion of the project such as a linear cut on the stucco where a flash guard was installed. The line was crooked. The amateur work crew sprayed the flash guard with spray paint without using a particular pattern to make the paint look even. I complained about that issue. Again I provided paint to make the flash guard look uniform to my home as it did prior to the project being started. On January 8, 2024, I noticed moisture around several light fixtures in the kitchen ceiling. I reached out to ********** ********* ********. Upon inspection of ********** ********* ******** ***** ** ******, it was determined multiple room ceilings and walls in my home had high levels of moisture. I had several roofing companies come to my home to assess the roof and ceiling affected. ******** ******* * ************ ******** ******* *** ********** and gave assessments based on their expertise dealing with roofing, All companies confirmed poor workmanship was the reason for the leaks throughout my home. In efforts to prevent additional damage to my home and property, I had Lifetime Roofing & Renovations to place a tarp on the roof. The cost was $3,500.00. *** conducted a thorough inspection removing damaged ceiling and wall (drywall and the saturated insulation). *** confirmed hundreds of nails penetrated the roofs decking, consistent with the previous nail penetration of the overhang. Pictures were taken to document the extent of the damage. At this point I am requesting a full refund for this project $18,000.00, my deductible $2,000.00 and the cost for any damaged property due to water and mold damage as well as mold treatment of $9,000.00. I would like to settle this dispute as soon as possible. I believe my requests are reasonable. I advised *** ******* of the situation, he denied fault. Respectfully, ***** ********

      To whom it may concern,

On December 15 I came to an agreement with **** ******** to re-roof her house at *** ******* ** *******. I subcontracted the job to ***** roofing systems license number *****, license and insured. I am able to contract anyone I want that is license and insured.  Mr. ****** ****** owner of ***** roofing pulled a permit from contra costa county and we started the job on January 17 2022. We priced there were some damaged roof on the home from the prior leaks, we changed plywood with no extra charge. During the operation **** ******** asked me to look inside her home and look at the damaged ceiling, kitchen floor, and bathroom. Upon arrival I noticed the kitchen ceiling had completely collapsed kitchen walls were wet along with the floor and bathroom. She asked me to fix that I responded by saying this is not my scope of work. All I can do is call my handyman *****. ***** was not interested because the conditions were very bad. She asked that I contact the insurance company and asked that I say the damage was caused by wind. I spoke with the insurance company and explained to them the conditions of the home were due to an old roof. We completed the job and the inspection. Upon completion I provided a lifetime warranty for the material and labor warranty of 10 years from ***** roofing. She had delayed payments and finally I got paid. We noticed there were some nail penetration on the overhang and a lot of rusted nails from previous roofing project. Mr. ****** willingly cut all the nails and left the rusting nails there, it was not part of his job. He then patched the area and painted over it. She called back and wanted that we remove all the nails along with paint the whole exterior part of the home. Mr. ****** denied doing it. Mr. ****** painted the overhang all around and front porch. She had complained about the front gable siding flashing which had nothing to do with roofing along with stucco that was cracked from natural causes which is normal on old houses. Mr. ****** patched and fixed the flashing along with painting complementary. The house went through 12 inches of rain in 2022 no issues no leaks that were reported. On February 25th Mr. ******** complained to better business bea BBB about old wood covering the porch. Mr. ****** noticed there were a lot of leaves behind the wood porch he recommended that he remove the old porch so that the water can pass through the old gutters. She agreed to maintain the home every year and blow out the leaves from the roof. She remove the complaint from BBB. Mr. ****** cleaned the roof and fixed issues she had complained about. We went through winches of rain 2023 historic rain no leaks no complains no issues. On December 6 2023 I received a call from **** ******** indicating that we had done a pore job and did not install a pipe for her water heater. Mr. ****** went to the home and she mentioned if we don’t fix the issue she would contact BBB again. Mr. ****** noticed **** ******** had installed a new water heater and it required a 2 inch pipe be installed form HVAC which is not part of our job to do. Mr. ****** hired a contractor to install the pipe, 500 dollars for the installment along with 95 dollars of the visit. There were no leaks complained about. Mr. ****** followed up before leaving to Mexico she said everything was fine. We had gone through 10 inches of rain during that time. On January 9th Mr. ******s office received a call indicating her roof was leaking all over and someone needed to take a look. The very next day Mr. **** ****** was at the home at 9am with a confirmed appointment. He noticed a tarp was placed over the whole roof with nails penetration all over. (I included pictures in this report) She did not call us to take care of the issue before doing this. Upon penetrating nails into the roof and hiring another contractor to do that u see our warranty agreement and labor she voided the warranty. Mr. **** ****** went back there from **** ******** to speak to the insurance which is also included in this report. Upon arrival she asked that he leave and that she will handle the insurance company herself. Mr. **** explained about the warranty and she understood. On January 18th I receive a call from **** ******** indicating I hired unprofessional workers and that her house was leaking all over we needed to take care of this as soon as as possible. I responded to her immediately and explained to her that the warranty was voided due to her having another company place the tarp over the house along with penetrating nails, and not allowing us to resolve the issue. I mentioned Mr. ****** was on vacation in Mexico and he’d be back at the end of the month around January and he would ac***s the issue. We made an appointment for January 29th she canceled it and requested it for the next day January 30th at 8:30am. Mr. ****** and I went into the home and asked that she show up the area where she had complained about the leaks. There were no signs of leaks or yellow spots on the ceiling. (We took pictures) We noticed she was remodeling her kitchen and bathroom from previous issues before we had started our project back 2022. Mr. ****** asked **** ******** why she hadn’t called us before placing the tarp she responded by saying she installed the tarp after Mr. **** showed up to the house which is not true we have pictures. Her husband or boyfriend started saying racial words about black, blue, and white colors. That she hired illegal workers who don’t speak English which is not true. He asked that we leave the home and that they will be placing a lawsuit on ***** roofing and A1 Roofing. As of today we have not received any summit which we’d like to have to show our proof the day of the court. The whole purpose of this fraudulent complaint is that **** ******** wants to remodel her home trying to claim money from the insurance and roofing company. The insurance company denied her claim. This is an act of fraud. We do not take any responsibility of doing anything wrong and we know that she had not cleaned her roof if there is any issue it’s from water backing up into her roof due to her negligence.

A1 Home Roofing Company (*** ****** *******) does not want to be held accountable for poor workmanship. The inadequate work provided by his leadership is starting to cost me in other areas other than just the roof. This gentleman was paid on time which is contrary to his current statement he provided. At no time did he do me any favors or provide any free servi***. He initially advised me if additional materials were needed outside of the contract, there would be an additional charge. ******* made that clear prior to the start of my project. (See initial contract).

On January 8, 2024, I noticed moisture around several light fixtures in the kitchen ceiling. I

      reached out to ********** ********* ********. Upon inspection of ********** *********

Servi*** Agent ** ******, it was determined multiple room ceilings and walls in my home had

high levels of moisture stemming from the roof

I had several roofing companies come to my home to assess the roof and ceiling.

      ******** ******* * ************ ******** ******* *** ********** and gave assessments

based on their expertise dealing with roofing. All companies confirmed poor workmanship was the reason for the leaks throughout my home. None of the above companies or anyone has conducted any type of work or altered the roof. The roof is still the same from the work provided by A1 Home Roofing Company conducted in January 2021.

On January 10, 2024, in reaction to the leaking roof, I had Lifetime Roofing & Renovations conduct an assessment of what could be done to protect my home. I advise a full roof tarp was the best way to delay additional leaking. I was also advised no nail would be placed on the actual roof to secure the tarp. The tarp would be secured to the facia board. The fascia board is the one mounted at the point where the roof meets the outer walls of the house. I agreed to have a tarp placed on the roof. I paid the deposit required. The tarp was mounted and secured on January 12, 2024. The total cost was $3,500.00.

*** conducted an additional thorough inspection removing damaged ceiling and wall (drywall and the saturated insulation). *** confirmed hundreds of nails penetrated the roofs decking, consistent with the previous nail penetration of the overhang (which I complained to ******* about in 2021.) Pictures were taken to document the extent of the damage.

At this point I am requesting a full refund for this project $18,000.00, my deductible $2,000.00

and the cost for damaged property due to water and or mold damage of $9000. The cost for storage fees which are ongoing. The cost to replace the ceiling and walls which was also damaged by the faulty roof installation. Cost to restore stucco in the front of my home, also damaged by A1 Home Roofing Company.

In summary, this is a classic case of a contracting company not wanting to be held accountable for their poor workmanship. Neither one of us wants to be here discussing issues of a brand new roof installed in less than 3 years but, here we are. When working with reputable and honest companies these types of issues are typically resolved in an amicable and timely manner. In my opinion, A1 Home Roofing Company is not acting in good faith towards the customer which makes this company less than reputable and honest. The preponderance of evidence that we will provide to the State Licensing Board with witnesses of A1 Home Roofing Company lack of accountability and subject matter experts in the roofing industry will provide a clear understanding of the type of poor workmanship and shenanigans they conduct to their clients after they are fully paid and on time. I ask the Better Business Bureau to highlight the efforts of A1 Home Roofing Company inadequate level of skill and poor customer service.

Also I would like to take a moment to address the defamatory statements made by Mr. *******. Although I am patient and kind to others when English is not a person's primary language in the United States of America and I also understand how frustrating it can be trying to comprehend a secondary language, however, it is no excuse to defame or slander one's character. This is the first and final notice to cease and desist any and all defamatory statements going forward towards myself and my husband if any communications persist with defamatory statements and/or actions this matter will escalate to potential litigation in regards to defamation.
