Myself, my daughter *****, and my son ******* ******, went to Desert Dental Specialty Group for a regular visit and cleaning. I received a notice in the mail that our dentist Dr. ********* retired. So I called to verify with Desert Dental Specialty the day before, about the appointment and the new dentist that took over, Dr. ********* place. I knew this new dentist that they have hired was out of Network with my dental insurance company. So I specifically asked the girl that answered the phone, whom said, she does the billing, if I was going to have a bill for our cleaning visit the following day because the new dentist was out of Network. The girl at the office answered, oh not to worry we are still billing under Dr. ********* and the visit for you and your children will not have a bill. I asked are you sure you can bill for a dentist that's not in the office anymore? I don't think you can do that. I use to work in the dental field when I was younger and did billing and we couldn't bill dental insurances for a dentist that was no longer with the office, and I don't want to get stuck with a bill. I explained that we can hold off on the appointment until we can find another dentist. The girl in the office insisted on us keeping our appointment and that we wont have a bill because they had been billing under doctor ********* and will ,be doing the same with us. I said, if you say so, but I never heard of that before. We went to the appointment the next day and I verified with the girl behind the desk that checked us in again being stuck with a bill because Dr. ********* was not there anymore and the dentist that started working there was not in Network and the reassured me that I won't have a bill because they were still billing under Dr. ********* name. We completed our appointments. To make a long story short they billed under the new dentist, I got a bill, and the manager told me on the phone, she handle it how and when she sees fit. They are fraudulent!
