I took my car in for a clutch install on my 2019 vw jetta at Palm Desert Transmission. I provided the clutch for the car from Clutch Masters in Rialto CA and Palm Desert Transmission was supposed to do the installation. 20k miles after the installation, the clutch failed. I took it back to Palm Desert Transmission to have it inspected, after I waited for a week and a half of for any information on my car or for them to look at it, they told me it was driver error. I knew that wasn’t the case, so I took it to get inspected by the people who make the clutch (Clutch Masters), because I thought that was VERY quick for a clutch to fail. Clutch Masters had told me that when it was installed by Palm Desert Transmission they never adjusted or readjusted the pedal stop for the new clutch and that it caused it to wear extremely quick. When I contacted Palm Desert Transmission and told them about the results of the inspection, the owner started yelling at me through the phone saying things like “ he didn’t do anything wrong” and for me to “get a clutch and get my car the hell out his shop” he said “it’s taking up space on my rack”. Now they’re going to charge me for a faulty clutch install and I’m not sure if I can trust them to install the next clutch. I feel like I’m stuck because my car is up on their rack and Palm Desert Transmission expects me to provide them with another brand new clutch and pay for them to install it which will cost me about 1500$, an expense I can’t afford. If the work was done the correctly the first time I wouldn’t be having to get another clutch re installed issue. I would like to get this resolved because I have been out of a car for the past 3 weeks now. I am a working man who depends on my transportation to work to provide for my familyBusiness response
