Dear BBB Staff, I was unable to pick up a cupcake order worth $100 that I made yesterday, so went to pick up the order this morning and it had been thrown away. Prior to placing the order online there was no information stating if the order was not picked up that day, it would be thrown away. It is also not normative for any other bakery to take a customer's baked goods away from them if they cannot pick them up the day they ordered them. I called the company and requested a refund since they threw my baked goods away, even though they were less than 24 hours old. They said there was nothing they could do, and that they have that right to withhold and throw away customers' purchases, because they called and tried to reach me a few times. I explained that I was working and that I just could not make it to the phone. I only saw a subject line of an email that said my order was confirmed. At the bottom of the email (which I did not open given the subject line), it says goods can be thrown away. If they let customers know in advance that they throw away their orders I could have made other adjustments, like having the cupcakes delivered. But, they do not provide this information in advance of ordering. Being able to follow up with a bakery the same day as an order to explain you are too busy to pick it up that day and you will do so the next assumes a certain set of privileges that are not available to all customers. There are working parents who get slammed during the day, are juggling a bunch of priorities, and only expect to have their cupcakes there for them if they are only able to make their way there on a Saturday morning. I do hope you can help provide some resolution. I am not asking for anything other than a refund for the $110 that I gave the company, to only have them throw the cupcakes away. I think this is a really important case, because it disproportionately disadvantages, especially busy working moms and dads. Thank you, **************
