Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/08/11) */ we preordered parts. When the customer came in to replace rear lift gate shocks and liftgate lock switch. we advised him switch could not be the issue. After replacing the switch the latch is still not releasing. Advised him to go to his mechanic and diag. the electrical issue. He said he has a friend with a shop in the south bay but its to far for him. We provided him a phone number of a mobile mechanic. This repair took us about 30 minutes. while the customer was waiting and we provided a free vehicle scan and should him there are some dtcs that could be the issue. at which point customer paid his balance and went on his way.

Fix Auto messed up my car's electrical system (multiple failed sensors and actuators) and then refused to take responsibility for fixing it. Then, to force me to pick up my car, they fraudulently reported to my insurance company that repairs were completed. That was in addition to multiple workmanship issues with the contracted repairs.

      Business response

      06/09/2022

Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2022/06/06) */ In regards to case # XXXXXXX. We removed the outside door handle, door interior trim panel, belt molding on the right rear door and the same on the right front door including the mirror so we can do the proper paint repair. The customer stated at the time of vehicle delivery that his right front door actuator was not working properly. We replaced the actuator but that did not correct the problem. We contacted the insurance company that was paying for the repairs for advice. We were advised to have the dealer diagnose the issue and and verify that is part of the claim. If it was determined to be caused by the claim the insurance would pay for the repairs. If not, the customer would be responsible for the diagnostic fee. We proceeded to contact the customer to get his permission to take the vehicle to the dealer. at which point he refused because he said we caused the damage. I advised him we don't know what is the issue and if it was something we did wrong we would take care of it. But if it was an ongoing electrical issue he would be responsible. The customer said he was going to pick up his car and take to a mechanic to get it looked at, even though we offered to take to the dealer. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2022/06/07) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) This response supports the facts of my complaint that Fix Auto caused damage to my car and offers no remedy. Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2022/06/07) */ As I offered to you before. We would be gladly to take the vehicle to the dealer to figure out what's going on with the electrical in the vehicle. We have limited capabilities to diagnose electrical issues. This why we need to take it to the dealer. Consumer Response /* (4200, 11, 2022/06/08) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) The offer to take my car to a dealer was not made in good faith and was rejected for two reasons: 1. As a result of the reporting from Fix Auto to Geico, I had already received a letter from Geico company stating that my rental car was being terminated and my claim closed. 2. It was stated by Fix Auto that I would be responsible for the cost of dealer inspection. The dealer inspection has now been completed and the issues confirmed to be a result of the work Fix Auto performed. The total cost of inspection, corrective action, and hours of my time is $800. Fix Auto is responsible for these costs resulting from their errors.
