On 4/13/22 ****** received a bill from ********** for $352.80 for service dates 6/29/21, 9/28/21, 12/28/21 with Dr. ***********. ****** responded in writing on 4/22/22 that the bill is in error as he has not seen Dr. ***** since 2019 when we moved out of the area and notified Dr. *****'s office in writing and by mail of discontinuation of services and requested that ******'s records be mailed to his new cardiologist. He received a response on 6/6/22 stating the charges were valid with no explanation. His ************** contacted ********** by phone on 7/11/22, initially after hearing the details, the phone agent checked with her supervisor who responded that we should submit the bill to Medicaid even though they are not valid. ********** notified the agent that this would be fraudulent. The agent acknowledged that ****** had not seen the provider since 2019 and that we would receive a letter in 30 days confirming that no money is due. On 8/22/22 ****** received a new bill from ********** for $102.90. On 8/22/22 he submitted an inquiry through **********' website outlining the issue, noting the attempted fraud and that a complaint would be filed with the ***. Today ****** received a bill from ********** for $419.30 noting a new total of $699 with an adjustment of $179.70. The charges are not valid. Attached are all communications including ******'s notes from conversation of 7/11/22 and from the website contact on 8/22/22.Initial Complaint

I received a bill from Providence for $570.24. (Account #************). This was for a routing diagnostic test (i.e. blood work). The original amount billed was $798 with an insurance reimbursement of $227.76. When I contacted the company they stated that this was an amount that will go against my health insurance deductible. When my doctor, who works through the Providence network, told me to get a blood work test, they stated to get the test through Providence. When I asked why I could not use Quest Diagnostics which I typically use, Providence stated I could only use a Providence lab. Typically Quest Diagnostics charges $280 and after the insurance reimbursement I pay about $40 out of pocket. Due to the Providence doctor stating that I had to use the Providence lab and with Providence charging a much higher price, I am claiming price gouging. This is unacceptable and hence the filing of this complaint.
