I had been in communication with them days prior to purchasing a used 2021 ******* I explained I live out of state but am moving to ** in less than two weeks. Because of obligations, I would need a car as soon as I land in LA so my brother would be arriving to purchase the vehicle. I wired my brother $12K to pay cash for the car and the employees at Honda of Pasadena ensured me that I could buy the car by completing the paperwork remotely. They even sent me a link to an online web portal where I completed a credit application and uploaded other documents such as my drivers license. I told them I wanted security because Im not there and so wanted a guarantee that once paying I would be the owner of the car. They reassured me that theyre a larger dealership and would not sale the car after Ive put money down on it and paid cash. I felt secure having the paperwork and online web portal link as well and so decided to trust them - BIG MISTAKE. My brother arrived test drove the car and was ready to handover the cash only to be told he cant drive the car off the lot if it wasnt put in his name and they wouldnt accept the cash! My brother tried to convince them and I had me on speaker phone explaining thats not what I had been told and that this felt like a waste of time. My brothers two daughters were waiting in the car and they were leaving the next morning to catch an international flight. This was a Sunday! - if my brother didnt get the car then I wouldnt have a way to get the money from him or have a car ready for when I arrive! Such an inconvenience! Then they tried to tell me I misunderstood and what I was saying wasnt true meanwhile I have text messages, emails and documents to prove a paper trail! This dealership is full of liars! The worst part is after my brother walked out the dealership, they called me not even two hours later asking me to still make the purchase and they would hold the car on the lot until my arrival if I pay $2,500.
