Hello, I would like to file a complaint regarding a lost package containing expensive jewelry.cost $2700. I arrived at the postal annex in perris California 1/12/2022 around 12:00pm to drop off an item already in its shipping package. All I needed was a shipping label to be made for me and to send my package via UPS. I don't send items frequently so im not too familiar with the procedures so i requested that my package requires signature upon arrival at its destination. When I gave the postal annex employee the destination address, she looked it up and realized it was going to a jewelry store. When i gave her my already packaged item she insisted on opening my package to see what was in the package and to "give me a better bag". I did not like that. She did not request signature or offer any insurance for my item knowing it was jewelry. I did not know I could insure my package. She then repackaged my item and created a shipping label and took possession of my package. I Paid, got my receipt, tracking number and left postal annex. A week went by and when I checked the tracking number, It stated the shipping label was made but never picked up by UPS. I then contacted postal annex to ask what was going on with my package. Postal annex response was that my package was picked up by ups but never scanned. I then contacted UPS and UPS said that it's obligation to scan every single package at every pick up location. I then called postal annex again to ask about my now lost package the response was "you should have got insurance for your package" and that UPS would only pay $100 dollars for my lost package. I then called UPS. They said that if UPS lost the package they would pay value 100%. But that their system shows that it never was picked up by UPS. Postal annex still has no response on this issue 1/28/2022 PLEASE HELP!

Good Afternoon, this is in regards to the complaint from our customer ******** *******.  I have personally spoke with her and when we speak seems to be very understanding on this situation but when her husband comes in he is very disrespectful.  I have been in contact with UPS in regards to this matter numerous times trying to get this resolved all in vain because it seems like they will not do anything in a timely manner.  I am not ignoring this situation because I understand that it is very frustrating on both of our ends.  When this package was sent out we had no idea what was in it and did not know until the 2nd time that the customer called, the first time she called she said it was a piece of metal then after she began to say it was a gold bracelet.  When she came in she told our employee she wanted the cheapest shipping option in which we told her regular mail price and then she said something with tracking.  So we decided to ship it cheapest UPS which was ground shipping.  Never did we know it was going to a jewelry store until the 2nd phone call.  We have our shipping manifest and driver signature showing it was picked up from our location.  We are doing everything in our power to get this rectified but no extra insurance was put on the package that is why UPS would only be able to pay out the shipping fee and the $100.00 if and when the decide it was their fault.  I have attached the UPS claim forms from where I am in contact with them.

I am rejecting this response because:

I am not satified with the business response.  Everything they replied about how they have been handling this sitution is not accurate. There is no proof anywhere that my package ever left this location. The so called manifest does not specify my lost item..
After reading their response Now more than ever. I think there was foul play at this location. They made me open an already packaged item for no reason and they were very well aware what the item was and where it was going. They also did not follow my instructions to request signature upon arrival. The employee/ manager has been very rude and laughed at me when I suggested filing a police report because she knows how to get away whit this kind of situation.  There have been many cases similar to mine at this location. Thank you for your help.
