      I purchased a new 420 pound propane tank on 2/21/24 and the tank was delivered on 3/7/24. I paid $ ******* for the tank. I received the tank and everything appeared to be fine. I noticed the tank was showing signs of rust in early May 2024. The rust is around pipe fittings, handles, hinges,etc places that could not be damaged during shipping or installation because they are in protected areas. Im unsure the tank is safe to fill as the main vapor line fitting is rusting. I emailed Flame King on 5/22/24 to let them know about the issue and the only response I received was the warranty clearly states the outside finish is not covered. The tank has never been filled. I want a new tank without rust to ensure it is safe to fill and use. I bought online from Amazon.

      Thank you for reaching out to us in this regard.  As stated in our response, we do offer a Limited Warranty on all of our products.  Our warranty states the following:

      "The manufacturer warrants Flame King Products (except paint and finish) to be free from defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase. Within these periods, the manufacturer will replace, or repair defective parts deemed unusable from its original intent by making available the parts there of ************************
      Product paint and finish are not warranted. The exterior finish of the product will wear down over time.

      The warranty does not cover normal wear of parts or damage caused by misuse, abuse, overheating, and alteration. Repairs or alterations made by anyone other than Flame King are not covered in this Warranty. The manufacturer will not be held liable for any losses due to neglectful operation. Furthermore, this Warranty does not cover damage caused by natural disasters such as earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, lightning, fires, etc.

      Upon the expiration of this warranty, all such liability will terminate. No other warranties are expressed or implied.

      Marketplace Warranty - 30 days warranty, warranty becomes void if the purchase is made through Amazon.com, eBay.com, TheHomeDepot.com, Wayfair.com, WalMart.com, BedBathandBeyond.com, or any other online marketplace from a seller other than Flame King or Amazon.com retail."

      Please note there are various rust remover sprays readily accessible at your local hardware store that can effectively address the rust on the tank.

      I am rejecting this response because:
      The company fails to stand behind a new product that was not damaged in shipment or installation. You can clearly see their product is inferior and failed less than 90 days from purchase. Instead of taking responsibility, they choose to hide behind the fine print of their warranty. Very disappointing these people are allowed to operate and continue to sell their flawed product.

      I purchased a Flame King **** *** ******* ******** back in 2020. I was notified by the company in late 2020 that the product had been recalled due to an improper handle location. At that original recall notification, Flame King declared that they would arrange for safe removal of the filled cylinder at their expense. However, Flame King reversed their decision and attempted to get me to handle all of the unloading and shipping efforts, which I declined on safety grounds. We eventually agreed to a compromise position whereby I would bring the new and recall tank to one propane vendor that would take the recall unit for emptying and shipment while simultaneously re-filling the new unit. Flame King did make an initial arrangement with one provider ********* Propane) who later declined. I have asked Flame King to arrange for a new provider but have received no response since ***. The relevant e-mail exchange has been attached.

      Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2021/11/01) */ Thank you for bringing this to my attention, I will personally be taking care of it this week. Consumer Response /* (3000, 7, 2021/11/10) */ (The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.) I have been contacted by Flame King via e-mail and phone and have made initial contact. The exchange has been courteous and constructive so far but no resolution has yet been settled upon. I like the direction this is moving but am selecting "No" on acceptance since no specific resolution has yet been developed and want to make sure the BBB complaint stays open until arrangements are finalized. Consumer Response /* (2000, 11, 2022/01/31) */ Flame King fully resolved this matter to my satisfaction on January 31st, 2022. They arranged for pickup of the empty propane tank from my home and fully reimbursed me for the lost propane via check. As always, I appreciate BBB providing a forum to break the impasse.
