On Wednesday 10/5/2022 I called Boston Transmission and spoke to the owner ***. I asked how much would he charge to look at my car (a 2006 Dodge Magnum) to find out what is wrong with it. I explained that it leaked transmission fluid all over the front of the engine compartment not from under the car where the transmission is. I told him it was probably a hose or the transmission cooler up front but my main concern was that I didn't harm or damage the transmission while it was leaking all of its fluid. He told me there is no way of knowing till he looks at it. "It could be something as simple as a hose like you say or it could be the whole transmission". He asked me what kind of car it was, what year, motor size, was it rear wheel drive automatic transmission etc. I asked him if he was familiar with this car and has he ever worked on Dodge Magnums before. He insured me he was very familiar with the vehicle and has worked on all kinds of transmissions. Not wanting to commit a price I understood. I told him ok, worst case scenario it needs a whole new transmission and it cost more then $3500.00 I'll just buy a new car. But I would still owe you for looking at the car, so how much would you charge me for your evaluation. He quoted me $75.00 Fair enough. I booked an appointment. On Thursday 10/6/2022 I called**** to arrange for my car to be delivered to him via tow truck so he can look over my car and tell me what is wrong. He called me back and said he needs to take off my front bumper just to take a look and it would cost $300.00. I told him that sounds unnecessary to me. I was told "IF YOU WANT A CHEAP PLACE THIS ISN'T IT" wow ok. I could say yes or get another tow truck n shop. Long story short he charged me $328.00 to change a $25.00 hose. Which is what I told him I thought it was. He never had to remove bumper, he never removed the bumper but charged me for something that did not need to be done and more importantly was never done. I have pictures to prove this.Business response
