    We started working with Nationwide lift in mid October 2021. We signed contracts with them in November and were assured that work would be one week in duration and be completed by approximately end of Jan./early Feb. 2022 . That information was given to us on our initial contact for an estimate. After we signed our contract and paid the deposit, we didnt hear back from this company unless we initiated contact. But the real reason Im filing a complaint is because while we were waiting for the work to be done for my mother-in-law, she passed away at the end of February 2022 and we no longer needed to install an elevator. I must say that I was grateful that Nationwide was willing to give us back the bulk of our non-refundable deposit. However they did keep $3000 calling it a restocking fee. I did try to convince them to return the deposit it full since the hadnt delivered any equipment and even revealed that they hadnt received the elevator from their vendor. But to no avail and I was even told, We have to make some money on this transaction. I was willing to drop the issue but after casually mentioning my experience to someone in my legal department at work, they explained that Nationwides actions may be illegal because a restocking fee should only be charged if the customer has received the merchandise and has returned it creating additional steps for the company (i.e. repackaging or having to return it to stock). And since they didnt have it in their own possession and thereby werent able to deliver it to us, then restocking was not physically possible and therefore shouldnt have been charged! It is my hope that the BBB can get our $3000 back. I have emails supporting my claims.
