I brought my deer in this year and had Archers do my processing. I'm from *********** and love supporting our local businesses. However, I'm compelled to share my experience. Unfortunate circumstances arose and I had to leave the animal over night and locate early in the morning. I was concerned that the meat may have gone bad. Definitely not ideal. I'm an ethical hunter and hate to see an animal wasted or a life lost without a purpose.So I explained my worries and left it to the professionals to decide if it would be safe for consumption. Needless to say I have 35lbs of worthless sour tasting meat. Has a distinct smell and made me throw up. I contacted them and was told he didn't remember my deer or the explained situation. My concern is I was up front and never heard anything back so I assumed we were good to go with no issue. I reached out to Archers butcher block and expressed my concerns. Only option given was they could take the ground I originally requested and make it into salami which comes at an additional cost. Even then will most likely have the same taste. I am beyond disappointed. $320 later I have a bacterial infected product that is inedible and has made me ill.I am extremely disappointed, this is my first and last experience with this business.Business response

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to my concern, and find that this resolution is not satisfactory to me. I asked them to process duck jerky after trying the deer jerky I had processed. However, after trying a steak and the ground deer is when I called back and made the complaint. The animal had really bad parts that made me sick. A noticeable smell and sour taste. Its obvious the meat had turned.Customer response

I am rejecting this response because the meat was bad. It made me sick and has a sour smell to it. I asked about processing duck meat after I tried the jerky. When I got into the steaks and ground is when I really noticed the problem. I still have the meat in the event someone would like to verify what Im saying. I explained in depth the way the animal was handled. The animal was left overnight. I had to locate in the morning. When I found the animal the rear end had been eaten. Not wanting to waste the animal I took it to Archers. I dont know how many animals they receive with a situation like this. The problem for me is I paid them for a service and the meat is bad. I dont know how they can pass this off for someone to consume.
