I initially engaged with the Law Office Of Jeffrey Hall, intending to construct a Family Trust. In a Zoom meeting with Mr. ******************** Hall, he outlined the range of services his office could offer. During this meeting, my wife and I conveyed our requirements for our Family Trust. ************ assured us that he was capable of meeting these needs.Subsequently, we completed the necessary documentation and paid the requisite fees. However, after careful consideration, my wife and I opted to change our plans from an ** trust to a Survivors Trust. Despite numerous attempts to contact ************ over several days, we were unable to reach him.It was only on July 24th that ************ contacted us, requesting additional information to proceed with the ** trust. At that juncture, we informed him of our change in preference. He responded by providing a draft, albeit only for the Survivors Trust. Regrettably, the draft fell significantly short of our expectations and the comprehensive discussions we had had earlier. Furthermore, I had expressed my desire to discuss the matter with ************ via phone to ensure all my queries were addressed prior to finalizing the trust. The draft provided by ************ was not meant to proceed without such a connection. The overall working relationship with ************ deteriorated thereafter, leading me to request a refund. While I recognize the value of compensating ************ for his time, it is crucial to note that he failed to fulfill our initial requirements and even charged for services that were not completed. I also emphasize that I should rightfully obtain the documents for which I was charged. In light of these circumstances, I kindly request a refund of the charges incurred for services that were inaccurately delivered. My intention is to arrive at a fair and amicable resolution to this matter. I am hopeful that the Better Business Bureau can assist in facilitating a timely and just solution.Business response

I met with Client in early July 2023, and he stated he wanted a Family Trust. Thats fine, we spoke family issues and property issues and discovered that Client has a blended family arrangement. And so, I mentioned the importance of an ** Trust to help protect the family given this situation. Client and spouse were pleased with that and so I prepared and drafted the ** Trust and sent it to Client a few days later for their review. Nothing unusual here so far.
Approximately 1 week later,I get an email from Client informing me that he and spouse now changed their mind and now want a Survivors Trust instead. Ok, thats fine and so I drafted this new SurvivorsTrust and presented it to the Client via email. Client initially stated that he was please with the Survivors Trust, although he stated he now wants to insert particular language that wasnt complaint with ********** law and so I attempted to get the client to understand that as an attorney I am required to follow the rule of law of **********, and I cant just make stuff up.
Shortly thereafter, I received an email from Client informing me that changed his mind again and that now he wants a Legacy Trust which upon research was determined to be an irrevocable trust and that which provides for lifetime income stream to their children. I explained to Client that such a trust in ********** is not compliant with Trust Law since such trust violates the ********** Rules Against Perpetuity which make the trust unlawful in **********. I explained that this trust is similar to a Dynasty Trust that is not recognized as a lawful trust in **********.
The Client then continued to send documentation about this Legacy Trust to me and I read the material but it had no relevancy to the illegality of the trust and so it was not helpful.
It became clear that I wasnt going to satisfy this Client. He was adamant that he wanted such a trust but I repeatedly explained to him that such a trust was not complaint with ********** law and I could not prepare such a trust. I felt that I had no choice but to withdraw as Attorney and return Clients deposit (net of my time).
HOWEVER, as Im sensitive to client concerns and that Client continues to express dissatisfaction, Im willing to REFUND all of my retained deposit as an offer in compromise.Customer response

Better Business Bureau:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference tocomplaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me. I am writing to confirm my acceptance of the resolution offered by the Jeffrey ******** Office in response to my recent complaint. After careful consideration, I have decided to accept the offer of being refunded the entirety of the retained deposit. While I am disappointed that our communication regarding the establishment of a Legacy Trust did not lead to the outcome I had envisioned, I believe that the proposed refund serves as a reasonable resolution to the situation.
I appreciate the efforts of the Jeffrey ******** Office in addressing my concerns and willingness to find a resolution that is mutually acceptable. I consider this matter resolved with the refund offer and no further action is required.
Thank you for your assistance in facilitating this resolution.
Sincerely,
Sincerely,
