We were seen by ******************** on Friday, 1/19/24 because our 2 year old, small breed dog was experiencing issues with urination and was in pain. We had experience with another dog of ours having a UTI and the symptoms were the same. I told the doctor we needed to be careful with finances and wanted to start with a urine test since that would tell us if he had the suspected UTI. I was told that we would receive the results the following day, Saturday 1/20. When I called on Saturday afternoon I was told by the technician that our dogs urinalysis came back normal. I asked to be emailed the test results in case we ended up needing the emergency vet, I was told they could not. I was told I needed to make an appointment for more testing. Our next appointment was that Monday, 1/22/24. a blood panel was done at ************************ suggestion. ******************** told us our dog needed dental surgery for infected teeth and the teeth could be the reason our dog was unwell. Told it was affecting his liver. Urgent surgery scheduled for Friday 1/26/24 quoted at $1807.00 - 2207.00. This seemed very expensive. We decided to see my dad's vet at Singing Hills Animal Hospital for a second opinion. They had Best Friends Vet send them our labs. At Singing Hills, (1/23/24) we were told by Dr. *** that our dog's original urinalysis was in fact NOT normal. We were shown the results from Best Friends that show blood, crystals, bilirubin and protein in his urine. He has a UTI and within hours of treatment is much better. We were deceived/defrauded by the technician and ******************** about the original results that would have saved our dog suffering. The urine results are clear and I have a copy. We were charged for unnecessary tests and almost for a surgery that was also found by Dr. *** not be urgent. We were given "pre surgery antibiotics" that we were also told is not protocol. I now suspect it would have cleared up the infection to make us think the tooth removal worked.
