I had recently purchased a 2012 Dodge avenger. My boyfriend drove the car from ******* to *******, the car drove fine. A few days later the car started running hot. I took it to a friend who is a retired mechanic. The mechanic pressure tested it in front of me and my boyfriend **** and at the end of the test diagnosed the problem(s). The radiator coolant reservoir had a leak and the transmission coolant line was leaking to the extent that a small puddle of transmission fluid began to form on the ground. I ordered a new coolant reservoir online and **** went to the junkyard and retrieved a transmission coolant line. At this point the car was parked until the part that was ordered arrived. We planned on our friend doing the work. Against ****'s better judgement and at my mother's request the car was towed to my mom's work, H & A transmission. The car was brought there to have two things done to it 1.) replace the radiator coolant reservoir and 2.) replace the transmission coolant line. That was it. The car was inspected beforehand by two certified mechanics and never was there any sign of a Head gasket problem. The oil looked good, no smoke from the tailpipe etc. and both mechanics said the motor sounded great. And all other parts of the car were inspected and everything other than the car running hot looked good. Almost a week later when we went to pick the car up it was driven up by a man and an abundant of obvious white smoke was coming from the tailpipe and the car did not sound good at all and they said the smoke would lessen as we drove it. We both refused to accept the car. Throughout the repair process my mom said the car should be inspected so I said ok. I was then told it needed a gasket set that cost 150.00 not including labor, that was done. Then I received a call a day later notifying me it needed a new motor! I am permanently disabled and can not afford this. Furthermore the transmission line was never replaced which we were told it was.
