On ******* **** **** * took my daughter (12) to this salon to get 2" trimmed off her hair. The price board said $15+ for girls and $18+ for women. I don't know their age discrepancy. We sat for a consultation and we told the stylist only 2" off her hair. She never said her hair was long and thick and warranted more money. Stylist asked is we wanted just a blow-dry. We never said 'style' I just wanted it dry because it was 60 degrees outside. According to their "board" a blow dry is $20. If my daughter's hair is thick then an extra $5-10 is reasonable. When we left the appt, my daughter's hair was missing 4" and the salon overcharged me. They never quoted $70 and collected payment. I was upset went home and called to ask to settle for $50. This business is unclear to the consumers and takes advantage of their a la carte menu without discussion. They should be written up and I should get $20 back from my payment of $50.Business response

Dear *****
We are sorry to hear that you didn’t have a good experience at our salon. Our stylists are instructed to provide a quote before the hair service, but if forgotten or if you are unsure, please don’t hesitate to ask.
The price board you have a photo of showed our old prices from 2021. The day you came into our salon on ********, our price board showed that girl’s haircut starts at $18 for short hair and women’s haircut starts at $22 for short hair. There is a + sign after all of our prices that showcases the price may be increased due to various reasons, such as length and thickness of hair.
Since your daughter is older, her haircut falls under a “women’s haircut,” which starts at $22 for short hair. Since she has long, thick hair, her haircut was charged $30. A wash is extra and is $5.
A professional blowdry is extra and the stylist did ask if you wanted it and you said yes. The blowdry for your daughter’s long, thick hair was $35, not $50 like you stated. This came out to a total of $70.
We discussed with you multiple times that we didn’t overcharge you, when you harassed us in person, over the phone, and over social media. We understand that you are upset, and and we are sorry about that. We reached out to you and offered you a discount off your next hair service, which we regret that you didn’t take.
We apologize for the misunderstanding of our prices. We have discussed with our stylists about being more clear with pricing, as well as adjusted our service menu to add more clarity to our prices. Thank you.Customer response

I stand by my complaint and if you want to see my daughter's birth certificate to show she was born on ****** which makes her ** years old than I can scan and produce that. Your price table on the wall is misleading and no one ever gave me a quote of $70 (ever) and its your job as a business to provide a service and not surprise your customers with overcharged services. I can attest that I am not the only one who feels this way about Hairtisitc. My local ******** inquiry to my local community asking them if I was scammed produced over 150 comments. Mostly with the public agreeing with me that your salon is not only unethical but dishonest about pricing. The fact that several customers felt bullied about using their credit cards as payment just shows profit is probably being hidden and + signs are bad for business.
