Around May 2022, I took my car, a 2017 *** X1 to Foreign Auto Tech for an *********************** which cost me about $430.00.Around May of 2024, my ** stop working and was blowing hot air. I took my car to the *** Dealership in ********* and had to pay $269.00 for a diagnostic check. The check revealed that the wrong Freon was put in the ** system and it contaminated the vehicle. My Service Advisor asked me if I had this service done outside of ***. I told him yes, it was done at Foreign Auto Tech about two yrs ago. He advised me to contact the shop where it was done and its their responsibility to clean out the ** system, He sent me the Recovery R-1234yf picture and said the dealership will not perform this clean out because it will contaminate their system.I immediately schedule an appointment with Foreign Auto Tech, who did their own diagnosis testing and confirmed that the ** system is indeed contaminated. They told me that they do not have the machinery to clean it out and recommend that I take it to a nearby business, M** Alternators and *************.M ** Alternators and ************* was able to clean out the ** system.I returned to Foreign Auto Tech and requested that they should pay at least the $120.00 that I had to pay for the flush out since it was their negligence that caused my system to be contaminated.Foreign Auto Tech refused, saying the service was out of warranty and they may consider giving me a store credit if I have any other work done there.I told the rep that I am afraid to have any other service done there because as a woman, they may have deliberately put the wrong Freon in in order that I can be a repeat customer, Due to ********************** putting the wrong Freon in my ** system, I am seeking the $269.00 that I had to pay for the diagnostic at the *** dealership and $322.50 that I had to pay ***** Alternators and Batteries.Thank you,*****************************.

Good Morning, in the year 2022 we serviced her ac system with our new AC Machine Designed Specifically for New Refrigerant R1234YF. When she brought the vehicle back in recently, we used the same AC machine to inspect the system and it would not allow us to charge the system since it now detected R134 In the system, it would not have been possible for our machine to carry R134 when its designed specifically to only work with R1234YF, over the 2 years i cannot verify if someone else possibly added r134 between the 2 years of not seeing the vehicle, We do not feel responsible for her ac system being contaminated, it would be impossible for our machine to have had R134 in the system, thats why we referred her to an AC Specialist that has a system that can recover contaminated refrigerant.

I am rejecting this response because:
When I arrived at the store, ****** took my car into the service area of the shop to examine it, After about ten minutes, he came to the waiting are and requested that I follow him to the service area.  He accompanied me to the garage  where my car was hooked up to a machine, he confirmed that the system was  indeed contaminated as it also was showing the same error message (see attached with R-1234yf message) as the dealership, that it was indeed contaminated. He is lying by saying the system detected R134.  As shown in the attached receipt from the diagnosis from **** the wrong Freon was used.

****** then said he would go over to M & M Alternators, explained to them the issue I am having as they have the machine to flush it out.

My car was then brought up front, and he told me he explained the issue to M&M Alternators and they would take care of it.

In the future, I would continue to have all my services done at the dealership simply because they are trustworthy and honor their work. Unlike Foreign Auto Tech, who are deceptive, liars and untrustworthy.

I am seeking $591.00 from Foreign Auto Tech for their negligence and deliberately lying to cover their poor work  in servicing my car.  $269.00 for the diagnosis from *** dealership and $322.00 that I paid to M& M Alternators to flush the system.

      Thank you,

      *****************************.

We have been in business for over 30 years, we don't lie or deceive people, when you brought the vehicle  back in it was almost 2 years after the service, We brought the vehicle in and  hooked up the ** Machine and immediately it flagged as contaminated, if there was a problem from my work you would have come back within the first week, the ** system would not have worked for this whole time, are machine could not contaminate the system it wouldn't even allow us to charge anything with R134a, just to bring this to a conclusion, We are willing to cover the charge amount that you paid at M&M of $122.00 this doesn't mean we admitting to any wrong doing, we strongly believe there's no way we contaminated the system, but just to resolve this and meet on common ground, we are not responsible for ***** diagnosis.

      Customer response

      07/02/2024

I am rejecting this response because M&M Alternators & Batteries charge me $322.00 for the clean out and recharge of the contaminated AC system. Because Foreign Auto Tech poor work contaminated my AC system,  the principle thing to do to  resolved this situation is to cover the $322.00 that I had to pay because of their negligence.  To resolve this issue I will accept $322.00. Please see attached receipt for M & M Alternators

If Foreign Auto Tech refused my offer, my other alternative is to file a case in Small Claims court for all the expenses that I incurred because of their negligence, lies and poor customer service.  I have enough documentation for a case.

I will never used Foreign Auto Tech again because they are untrustworthy.  I will let family, friends and co-workers be aware of my experience at Foreign Auto Tech.

      Thank you,

To: Foreign ******************** Foreign Auto Tech ******************************************************** From: ******************************* Date: December 28, 2023 Subject: Continued Failure to Repair 2012 XJL Jaguar "I am writing to express my profound frustration and disappointment about the persistent issue with the misfiring cylinders in my 2012 XJL Jaguar. Despite numerous attempts and third-party maintenance under warranty involvement, the problem has remained unresolved for six months. The repairs have not been effectively executed, which is unacceptable.""As a loyal customer of ********************** Tech Auto, I have trusted your expertise six times now and expected a prompt and efficient resolution to the recurring issues with my car. However, the fact that the misfiring cylinders in the specific area of the 1, 3, 5, and 7 cylinders were not diagnosed and fixed is wholly unacceptable. It is also unacceptable to send a car out of your shop with no oil or gas spilling from the fuel pump, parts removed, and not reinstalled in the back of my trunk, which has been photo-documented. The vehicle has had to be towed back to your establishment six times now. After reaching out to you and not hearing from your organization for weeks, it is frustrating to call to get updates and find out the vehicle's status."I have exhausted all my services under the third-party maintenance warranty. In addition, I have paid an extra $1,600 to a mechanic for various services, including parts replacement and diagnostics, to rectify a persistent problem with my vehicle. Moreover, I have also spent an additional $450 on other services to resolve the issue. Despite my efforts, the problem still needs to be resolved, and my vehicle remains unreliable. This situation has caused me significant financial stress. Given this unresolved issue's extended duration, the car shut down after a 70-mile drive and broke down on December 25, 2023, after receiving the vehicle from Foreign Auto Tech, delivered it to my house.

Good afternoon, we are aware of the multiple complaints on the vehicle, attempting to resolve the matter in previous repairs. We are willing to pick the vehicle up and we can utilize the warranty to resolve the matter. We have had staffing issues the last year causing major delays in all our work and prolonging the procedure. We will do our best to get this resolved in a professional matter, and with your approval, we can pick the vehicle the following business day from today's date 1/8/2024.

Subject: Re: Vehicle Repair Timeline Concerns

      Good afternoon,

Thank you for reaching out and addressing the concerns regarding the repair of my vehicle. I understand the challenges your organization has faced due to staffing issues and appreciate your willingness to utilize the warranty to resolve the matter.

While I appreciate the offer to pick up the vehicle for repair, I am concerned about the potential timeline for the resolution. Timeliness is crucial to me, as an extended period without the vehicle would be inconvenient. Additionally, uncertainty about the status of the repairs could further complicate the situation.

I would like to request a clear timeline for the repair process to ensure that the issue is addressed in a timely and professional manner. Having a better understanding of the expected timeframe would greatly help in managing any inconveniences that *** arise from being without the vehicle for an extended period.

I look forward to your response and working together to resolve this matter efficiently.

      Sincerely,

I took my 2008, ************* S550 4Matic into foreign auto tech to have my transmission oil. Cooler line repaired on September 20, 2023. I had to return because of a poor repair on October 5, 2023. Because they didnt wipe down the transmission fluid thoroughly. It got down inside of my alternator and power command cable and burned it out, had to pay roughly $1700 to have it repaired. This was from a diagnostic report from *********************************** which I paid $205.95. Then on November 7, 2023 the transmission oil cooler line popped off again. I had to pay $1800.01 to have it repaired correctly. Also burned out my battery which was an additional $580 from *************.. which totals it to $5083.64. This doesnt include lost wages And Ubers to get around. *** filed a complaint with the ********** automotive bureau bar and have been assigned a worker. ******************* also sent a demand letter on November 16, 2023 for foreign auto tech to pay the above balance in full or I was going to take legal action and file a small claims against the business, ******************* said that they are not going to pay the above balance. So I am filing a complaint with the BBB so it can be further investigated because my car is completely destroyed with the electrical issues and everything even after paying the above balance to have it repaired its still not right.

Good afternoon, On September 20th, 2023, **************************** vehicle arrived on a flatbed tow truck. We diagnosed the vehicle and found the vehicle covered in transmission fluid, the vehicle had previous work done by another shop to the transmission cooler line (splitting hose, adding another hose between and held by 2 hose clamps) connecting the high-pressure transmission cooler line. ************************ was given an estimate to replace the complete transmission cooler line that was damaged and leaking, the job would be a time intensive repair, and ************************ stressed that he was in need of his vehicle be completed as soon as possible and requested for us to perform the same repair and just add a new hose with clamps between the damaged transmission cooler line. ************************ was requesting for a quick fix and could not afford to do the actual repair that was estimated, at the time we strongly advised the customer to repair it the proper way or risk the vehicle potentially breaking down the same way. ************************ was very adamant about preforming a quick fix and stated he would sign any form waving any warranty as he fully understands this repair is not our recommendation and we high advised against it. ************************ fully understood what he would be paying for, as we highly advised against repairing it the improper way, knowing a potential issue like this would occur. The Customer insisted on just getting it fixed as he needed to be back to work, ************************ signed the invoice stating (No Warranty), As to his comment about us " not cleaning the transmission fluid and it went into the alternator" the vehicle came in soaked of transmission fluid, us cleaning it or not would have not made a difference in the alternator failing as it was already drenched in transmission fluid.

In response to your rejection claim. Foreign Auto Tech does not feel responsible for any damages, as stated previously, the vehicle came in to our shop on a tow truck, with the oil cooler line busted, our shop gave you an estimate to properly repair the transmission oil leak, and you objected, wanting to repair it the cheapest way possible. We strongly advised multiple times to fix it the proper way with the correct transmission oil line. ********************** Signed Documents Stating NO WARRANTY ON REPAIR, ********************** was fully aware of the risks of not repairing the vehicle properly, (The Vehicles original reason for coming in was the transmission oil leak) the alternator was already soaked in oil before we touched the vehicle, We Are Not Responsible for something that was a problem before hand, we did you a favor and went out of our way to help you ********************, and you had ******** ****** repair the vehicle without discussing anything with us, and you agreed to pay them with said amount.

I am rejecting this response because:
I was treated poorly and offered to pay for the repair before the job was even done.  Foreign Auto Techs response doesn't reflect with ********************* diagnosis report attached in recent attachments submitted.  The transmission oil cooler line popped off a number of 3 times.  It doesn't make sense to pay for a cheap fix 2 times in a row, and I disagree with cheap clamps put on it from recent repairs.  I bought the vehicle on 09/09/2023 in ********, ********** from a very rich and wealthy family that were the only owners.  I then drove it down **** miles from *******, **********. I got a smog certificate and registered it on 09/18/2023.  Two days later yes the transmission oil cooler line popped off and i seen they were the closet foreign mechanic shop near me. I spoke to the previous owner and he disagrees with Foreign Auto Techs response to this complaint.  This 2008 ************* S550 4Matic was a $110,000 car brand new, and highly doubt the previous owner would put cheap clamps on the transmission cooler line.  I've attached the receipts and invoices from ********************* and Certified Auto Care.  I was treated very poorly and was dam near in tears about this vehicle, and they served every other customer and got me when business slowed down.  all they did was put more transmission fluid and sealed the leak poorly.  As a result I lost my General Managers Position with ******* Store which I transferred from ******* behind missing work to deal with this vehicle and fix there severe damage poor repairs.  In the demand letter written and notarized on 11/16/2023 i was more then fair on just wanting the $5,083.64.  I didn't include loss wages, tow bills, or any other expenses and was rejected.  ********************************************************************************************

      Business response

      01/12/2024

You were not treated poorly, we went above and beyond to try and help you, we tried to fix it properly with trying to replace the Entire line, you begged us to fix it with cutting out the line and adding 2 clamps, we did not make that choice on our own, you requested it, you signed for it. You stated you could not afford the repair. You pleated for use to do it the way you wanted, there's no more reason to go back and forth with you on this matter, we again are not responsible for any damages due to your choice of how you wanted us to repair the vehicle. You Already Charged back what you paid us, You were fully aware of the type of repair you had use to to get you back on the road.

      Customer response

      01/15/2024

I am rejecting this response because:
It doesnt make any sense to have it repaired the way that you did. You did not bring that to my attention regardless of what you say, my vehicle was damaged the alternator, the power command cable and the transmission oil cooler line all prepared properly after your visit Which I got repaired with another shop, ******************* in ******, **********, the diagnostic report from ********************* says otherwise this whole situation has affected my livelihood and cost me my employment with *** STORE as a general manager.  And yes, my brother paid for the first visit Which I had him dispute you are correct on that one. The second time I paid cash regardless of what you say in defense, my vehicle was Damaged and destroyed which cost me $5083.64.  My records submitted say otherwise.  I do not accept it and the next steps are filing San Bernardino county small claims paperwork I sent a demand letter on 11/16/2023 Demanding $5083.64 Which is what it cost To fix the mistake, I didnt even add lost wages tow bills etc With my subpoenaed report from the ********** automotive bureau, and all of my other records proves it otherwise.

I took for routine service to ** dealer in ********* ** **********. He removed the drain plug and the threading in the pan came out and he tells me the oil plug was cross threaded and over torqued by who ever changed oil previously which is Foreign Auto Tech in Redlands CA. He says tow the car to Redlands and he will rethread and put in a plug. The car cannot be moved or engine started as it has no engine oil. I was strongly advised no to move the car. I feel I was seriously wronged and Foreign Auto Tech is responsible for it and owes me damages. the following is the email from the service tech at the dealership : Good morning **.        I am rejecting this response because:

Foreign Autotec has been servicing  my car ever since beginning of 2021.  They have done all the A and B service done on the car since then.

The reason I had to bring the car to Foreign Autotec in October of 2022 was because ******** ********** ** ********* ** told me that the oil plug has been  overtightened or cross threaded  by the Foreign Autotech who had done the service around the end of  2021 and it could not be removed. I called *** the owner and he told me to bring it to his shop in Redlands. When I took it to him he said he fixed it and bought a new oil plug bolt from Mercedes and replaced the old one. He also told me that he tapped the oil can ( rethreaded it ) .  I took it to the dealer MB of Foothills and he told me the same thing . You can see the pictures I sent and email I forwarded with my initial complaint.

So Foreign Autotech is solely responsible for oil plug and the thread in the oil can falling apart. The owner wants me to bring the car to Redlands to his shop so that he can repeat the same thing he did when I took my car in 2021 and 2022.  Besides there is no engine oil and it had to be pushed from the service bay to the dealers parking lot pending repair.  Owners offer to fix it if I  bring it to his shop 75 miles away is totally unreasonable.  His offer of $250 is ridiculous. I demand that he bear the cost of the oil can replacement which is the only reasonable and honorable thing to do.

      Thanks

Back In October 2022, We Never Retaped the Oil Pan, Only Thing That Was Done Was Replace the Oil Drain Plug and O Ring, If We Retaped It There Would Have Been a Charge on The Invoice for the Labor Rethreading the Drain Plug (Normally Charge $150.00 Labor Just for That) I Offered If He Could Tow It Back Here Using His AAA i Could Help and Do The Labor Repair On The Oil Pan By Retaping The Drain Plug Or do labor on a new oil pan, but still he decided to take a decision and have Mercedes do the work, but i Offered him $250.00 Towards The Bill as a courtesy, But I Feel Like I am Not Responsible for The Oil Pan Wearing Out, I Tried To Help You out Last Time With Replacing The Oil Drain Plug only. Thanks

      Customer response

      08/22/2023

I am rejecting this response because:

If he didn’t tap it he didn't. That doesn’t mean he is not responsible.

The  dealer who opened the drain plug ( new as per the owner of the shop) tells me that the plug was cross threaded and over tightened.

when he removed the frail plug the threads just fell apart

the same thing I was told by the ******** **** ** ********* in Sep 2022 and he told me that I should take it to the guy who changed the oil before in 2021.  That’s the reason I called *** the owner and took my car to his shop in October 2022.
that was again Foreign auto tech.

so on two separate instances he has messed up and now is covering up,

$250 is pittance compared to how much damage he has caused.

I have all service paperwork and written statement from the dealer.

if he is not willing for a reasonable settlement then I have to seek other venues.

Good Morning, In Response to The Complaint, Customer Called In To Inform The Shop He Had The Vehicle Towed From The City Of Murrieta , To The City Of San Diego Due to seeing an oil leak, Without Allowing us the chance to inspect the vehicle to see what possibly went wrong, the customer claims to have done the repair himself, and came in with a hand written paper receipt for a towing bill of $972.00 an Additional Road Side Service Bill Of $250.00, Without any documented proof of what the repair was or what was found on the leak, Our shop was willing to compromise and offered the customer a refund amount of $400.00 , More Then His Original Amount He Paid Of $224.00, To Compensate A Normal Tow Truck Rate And The Cost Paid for The Original Service, The Customer Declined Our Offer Of a $400.00 Refund and Explained He Would Handle It In A Different Matter.

      Business response

      12/01/2022

We Acknowledge the Receipts Provided for The Roadside Service and The Towing, We Are Willing to Refund you up to $500.00 Which Is Sufficient Enough for roadside and cost of a normal towing bill, Our Only Discrepancy Is the Outrage Towing Bill of $973.00, The amount seems a bit much for any tow trunk regardless of it being a holiday, with it being a handwritten receipt its hard to determine the exact cost, unless the tow company can provide actual proof that amount was paid via emailed receipt, so our best offer would be $500.00 at the moment.

I am rejecting this response because:

The cost of the towing may have been a bit high it was a holiday and was late at night those are factors that we do have to take in consideration as well they were not towing a honda civic thats a nother aspect to keep in mind it is a Porsche Cayenne regarding that email i will get in contact with them to see if it is posible to get as well you have the option of contacting the tow company your self  and regarding the hand written receipt that is normal for a tow truck driver to issue a customer as to the refund Iam expected I will reduce the amount by 30% this is a one time offer to get this issue resolved and have no further contact with your company

I called @8:05 for a wheel alignment they told me to bring my car in I got there around 8:30 coming from Moreno Valley he then told me that it was going to be an hour to get my car done which was fine I was going to wait there till my car was finished. At 8:45 another technician that works at the auto tech shop pulls my car to the back, I was sitting there the entire time just waiting, @10:10 I got up out my seat and walked outside looking for my vehicle to see if it was almost done when I walked back I didn’t see my vehicle at all. I then asked Yaseer the front employee how much longer was it going to take he then tell me 3 min later that the other place needs another hour and 30 min at this point I’m very confused because I took my car to them not anywhere else and he then told me their wheel alignment rack was down and that they took my vehicle to discount tires. I was extremely angry at this point being that my car was somewhere I don’t take my vehicle nor did I say it was okay.

Good Afternoon, in response to the matter, we were going to sublet the vehicle to the tire shop next door to us, due to our alignment rack being out. In response to her vehicle " Feeling shaky after she took the vehicle " the tire shop never actually lifted up the vehicle, or touched the vehicle ( the shop is next door to our facility ). I am willing to refund the customer for gas money to compensate the customer from driving down from Moreno Valley just to help better find a solution for the customer, but the vehicle was never touched or worked on for it to now have a new problem. I Can Offer the Customer $20.00 For Gas Money, And An Apology for the miss communication.

       Better Business Bureau:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID ********, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.

An apology he already told me the miscommunication wasn’t on my part it was on the business I was sitting inside your establishment the entire time and then you could’ve told me @8 when you guys first opened and when I called before I got there that your machine was broken I drove 30 min to you guys and 30 min back home. 20$ isn’t enough more like 30-35$ I have a bmw not a Chevy my car takes 91 premium not 87 unleaded. Other than that I’d love a receipt or something stating that another shop didn’t touch my car because when I get my car diagnosed and it does have something to do with You guys  I’ll need my paper work.
