Goodhire, along with my former employer pushed an unauthorized background check with my consent a little over a year ago. I was informed by a manager in **************** and that she was authorized to push it and asked me for a reason why theyd make her do so. I have asked my former employer for copies and have been denied on multiple occasions. I recently found out that goodhire was the company they went through and have tried to request a copy through them and have been unsuccessful getting through. I would like if Goodhire would 1) validate that the background check was processed, 2) provide myself a copy if so, and 3) provide explication for why this was done without consent or reason.Business response

On 08/09/2022 An Potential Employer Submitted A Background Check On Me. Goodhire Completed 6 County Checks On 08/11/2022 And Ive Been Waiting On One County Check Since. The County In Question Is Concordia, LA Which Happens To Be My Home County. I Reach Out To The Clerk Of Court And Was Referred To The Court Clerk That Handles 3rd Party Background Checks. The Court Tried To Assist Me In Every Way Possible To Help Complete This County Check, However They Couldnt Find Any Information For A Background For Me. I Was Advised To Call And Find Out What The Errors Where On Goodhires End So That They Could Help. Goodhire Support Only Provided Me With Generic Info And No Other Options As To Actually Investigating The Situation Or Seeing What Was Going. Numerous Support Members Advised Me That Only After The Estimated Completion Date Of 08/29/2022, Can They Help Me Or Request To Expedite My Background. On 08/23/2022, My Employer Was Able To Put In A Request To Get A Request To Expedite But I Was Still Advised That Theres Nothing Usually Done Until After The ETC. The Thing Is, My Start Date Is 08/28/2022 And Has Been Delayed Twice Because Of This. Now, If This Was Something That I Had An Issue With Thatll Be Different, However, This Is A Situation The Multiple People Have Encountered When Using ************************Business response

I applied to a new company and was given a job offer. I put in my resignation and was looking forward to moving into a new position. Instead good hire did not take into consideration how common my last name is and did not do a deeper dive into who I really am. Instead they accused me of having a felony record, living in a state I have never lived in and to make matters worse this individual that I am being accused of being is still on probation. I am not a attorney but I am sure that a person on probation can not leave the state without completing such probation. Also the person has a different middle name than mine. It is not that difficult to run a background check with legitimate resources to see that I have never been arrested in ****. I have a passport, State ID and Drivers License with my picture that clearly shows I am not the person that has been arrested. I am not even certain if this person just happens to share my last name or if my social security has been compromised as well. Now I have to find an employer who actually uses a reliable service because if not I will be in the same boat as now and without a job. To add salt to the wound, my current employer used good hire to run my background and this was not on my record but this second time around they decide to add this offense that not only took place before I even applied for either job. Why now? Why did they have to choose to do this to me? I have to wait 45 days to get this issue resolved? I have a child to provide for and now I have no job since I quit in order to take this new position. They should really consider how they handle these things in the future. They are playing with peoples livelihood. I hope that in my next potential job offer, that this has been resolved. I have attached both background checks that show the discrepancies that I have stated.Business response

A company that offered me a position had this company do a background check on me. It clearly states 7 year check on the application for background check. Here it is over a month and half and Ive contacted them several times. All checks are back but one and thats my present County. Ive been told many lies and have records. First it was they have to schedule someone to go out to my courthouse and it takes awhile. Then it was they have to make an appointment for said county, Then it was they will expedite it, then it was my county has issues with their system, then a supervisor informed me that something came back from 20+ years ago so now its waiting on that. They stated theyre not sure if its the right person they have to wait on county. First and foremost the employer only wants 5-7 year check, second the goodhire page that Ive added a picture of says 7 year check. So here we are waiting on something from 20+ years ago and they state *** not even be mine but have to wait and see. I have never been convicted of anything and Im missing out on a great job because of this company. Everytime I talk to them its a different story! Im not worried about anything on my background because again Ive never been convicted of anything but for them to hold a check on my for almost two months for something that *** be on there 20+ years ago and it clearly states 7 year check. Also they told me they couldnt see what it was that was reported on that 20+ year ago result. What do they mean they cant tell me. I have a right to know what they think they got back on me. And my social security number is clearly a way to indicate if its me or another person. They told me to call the company that hired them for that report, called that company and they have no report just a report from goodhire that they need an extensive check! Goodhire is a joke, Ive called my county courthouse myself and can get the no record information but they of course wont allow that. RidiculousBusiness response

Dear *****,
We apologize for the delays you experienced with your background check. When records are sourced from county courts that require clerk assistance, which was the case for your report, GoodHire is at the mercy of court clerks and cannot obtain records without visiting the courthouse in person and making an appointment with the county clerk. This can sometimes introduce substantial delays into the background check process.
While many county clerks will not assist background check companies by providing criminal record information over the phone, after receiving your complaint, we called the clerk of courts in Kanawha County, and the clerk was able to confirm that you had no convictions. As a result of this information provided by the court clerk, we were able to complete your background check. We sincerely apologize for the delay in completing your background check.
Warmly,GoodHire Legal

I ran a Backround check on an Employee and Good Hire Sent a Report back with State Federal Court House's Checks Etc was all Clear No Criminal Record Nothing in this candidate's background. They employee was then offered employment, 2 weeks later in comes into our warehouse a US FEDERAL PROBATION OFFICER asking questions concerning this employee, they only information he would provide to our manager was he was just released from a Texas Prison served 10 years. I have spoke to many individuals from Good Hire concerning this issue but got the biggest run a round. So we looked in the ******* County Court House and Found his crimes in 30 seconds but Good Hire claimed they checked this courthouse for the previous 10 years. This background check was not done or something is wrong.Business response

Complaint: ********
I am rejecting this response because:We were charged for this inaccurate report, and when the Federal Probation Officer came into the West Palm Warehouse, we contacted Good Hire and received a run around with stories. Our Safety Officer took 2 mins to find a Criminals Record in ******* County concerning a *** ***** ******* * ***** let me repeat this a ***** *****. We counted on Good Hire to do its job doing Backgrounds. As soon as they received this BBB Complaint they ran to change the report Immediately, now we wonder how many more backgrounds are inaccurate we paid to have Good Hire to preform. We would have never hire the individual that has a *** crime just out of prison and on probation for a *** crime on a *****. All charges concerning this individual need to be removed from our account, as we had to contact our Attorneys to see how to properly fire this hired *** crime individual.
Sincerely,
Robert *******Business response

Dear Robert,
As we stated in our previous response, we have issued you an account credit to cover the entire cost of this background check. The credit will be reflected on your next invoice.
Unfortunately, due to the limited information provided in the federal criminal database (PACER), federal criminal records may not have enough personal identifying information associated with the record to allow for compliant reporting. However, wherever possible, GoodHire searches court filings and uses alternative data sources like the federal Bureau of Prisons and news articles from federal agencies in order to source additional personal information to match federal criminal records. If you would like to discuss further, feel free to reach out to our support team at ************.
Warmly,

I am rejecting this response because:I spoke many times to support at Good Hire and that's why we are at the BBB as you stated and charged us for court filings and we gave your company Carte Blanche to look in many places how was this missed and why in less than 5 mins our Safety Department in St. **** find the candidate had a major arrest for Incitement of a ***** and served 10 years and was just released from Prison and on 5 YEARS PROBATION as of now.
Sincerely,
Robert *******
