The security at the Fox Theater is lax. At a recent event, no screening of male audience members was done, even though an email had been sent out before saying that a metal detector and/or detector wand would be used. Only those audience members who had bags were screened by their bags being briefly searched.Also, as the event was ending, a loud boom was heard from outside the theater, which sounded like a bomb or gunshot. Upon exiting the theater, we could see that a number of people had gather in the square across the street and firework which set off explosions ****** feet in either direction. At a prior event, the speaker was interrupted midway through the performance by someone from the theater. The speaker seemed surprised by this and asked, "Is this the first speaker you have ever had here?" a sentiment and comment/question which seemed quite appropriate given the odd behavior of the theater staff.The theater has also sent out unsolicited emails fraught with spelling errors and inaccrurate information. Requests for improvements to this and other issues have been in some cases ignored and in some cases directly or indrectly refused.I am writing this message because the physical safety of the speaker on 5/20/2022 could have been ensured through proper security measures; however, unfortunately, the theater management has chosen not to follow measures such as using a metal detector and/or metal wand to screen people entering the theater.
