I have been paying Good Leap $122 every month for the last year for Solar panels on my roof that have never worked, I have tried to contact Good Leap about this as I should not have to pay for equipment that is not being used. I have never received a response from them. The only time that I did hear from them is when I was issued a new debit card & the previous card was still on file to be billed. I received daily phone calls & emails about this. I would have been nice to have received a call about my prior issue & then they reach out to me about needing the updated payment information. I would like to have the month refunded back to me & with their help get the solar panels up & running to make future payments.

      Dear *******************,
GoodLeap is in receipt of the complaint filed on June 20,2024, with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), regarding your solar system installation by Vision Solar, LLC (Vision).  In summary, you express dissatisfaction with the service Vision provided or is now unable to provide due to its bankruptcy.
Please note, GoodLeap operates separately and independently from Vision.  GoodLeap is the lender for your solar system purchase; we are neither the seller nor the installer.
According to our records, the solar system was installed by Vision on January 25, 2022.  After installation, the system is subject to final inspections, then the local electric utility company approves and grants the system and permission to operate. Be advised, your system was granted permission to operate by your local utility company on August 2, 2022.  It is our understanding; the system has been producing energy since obtaining permission to operate, as GoodLeap was not previously made aware of any system performance concerns.
GoodLeap certainly recognizes there may be complications associated with Vision going out of business for borrowers whose systems may require servicing or maintenance.  While the workmanship warranties offered by Vision are no longer valid, your system component manufacturer warranties remain in effect.  Please see below for the manufacturerscontact information:

Avoid Good Leap LLC at All Costs!I've never been more disappointed in a company than I am with Good Leap LLC. Their service was abysmal from start to finish. First, you dont know what youre getting into until youve already locked in your contract. Important things like co-signer would never be able to be taken off when we were promised we would be able to take over the loan after 60 days (we asked up front, multiple times before signing).Their customer service is non-existent. I called multiple times and was put on hold for what seemed like an eternity, only to be met with rude and unhelpful representatives who clearly had no idea what they were doing. My next call was escalated to a supervisor and the supervisor was also wrong and uneducated in answering my questions and concerns about length of loan if I paid off x amount. As of 2020, the company was responsible for 41% of the solar loan market in the U.S. and is the top solar lender in the country. Good Leap lended money to many start up solar companies in **** and a few of the bad apples companies went under and then Good Leap withdrew their funding from ALL companies (even those in good standing). I got my panels through Elan Solar and Good Leap chose to withdraw all funding from Elan Solar making it now impossible for me to get any further services such as maintenance on my solar panels. In conclusion, do yourself a favor and steer clear of Good Leap LLC. They're a shady company with terrible customer service, and a complete disregard for their customers' satisfaction. There are plenty of other solar financing options out therefind one that values your business and treats you with respect.

Received a loan from goodleap in March, sent full payment of what I was told to pay, never received a pay off letter, I received a bill, called was informed that it was never received, went back to the bank and received another certified check, which I was overjoyed that I had done this, called again after sending in proof that the cc had been mailed to them , I was informed that it was late and I would have to send in an extra late fee payment, I told the woman that I didn't understand having to pay late fees on something not my fault, sent this in, I still have not received my payoff receipt.this is not a company that I would recommend to my worst enemy, they are slick talkers, and I am sorry that I ever involved myself with them, I want my receipt, just like they wanted the undeserved money they asked for, if this company has been investigated, then I don't understand why not.

      Dear ***************************,
GoodLeap is in receipt of the complaint filed on June 18, 2024, with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). In summary, you assert GoodLeap received your payoff balance, however, you were still charged additional fees.
GoodLeaps loan agreement was signed by you on March 11,2024. The loan terms are clearly reflected in GoodLeaps loan agreement including the loan amount, interest rate/APR, and payment schedule. The DocuSign Certificate confirms the loan agreement was sent, viewed, and signed via the email address ********************* which matches the email address listed in the complaint form received from the BBB. Upon completion, the signed loan documents are automatically sent to the email address used to sign.
To clarify, your loan is a Daily Simple Interest loan. For Daily Simple Interest loans, interest begins to accrue the first calendar day after your Credit Start Date. The Credit Start Date of March 26, 2024, is the date we funded the loan to your contractor. Additional information is also available in the Welcome Package;Welcome Letter, Closing Certificate, and Truth in Lending Disclosure, originally sent on March 27, 2024. See attachments.
As requested, a payoff quote was generated on March 28, 2024, in the amount of $3,737.91, valid through April 12, 2024. According to our records, GoodLeap received a lump sum payment on May 15, 2024, via check for $3,737.91, which did not satisfy the loan balance.Subsequently a payment of $44.60 was received on June 7, 2024, satisfying the remaining loan balance. Prior to closing the account, ********************** issued a refund  of $0.25 on June 20, 2024.
Contrary to the assertions made, GoodLeap did not assess any late fees for the account. We have included the payment history and payoff statement with our response to your request. Should you have additional questions about the loan, please contact our ************************* directly at  ****************************************.

On 1/12/2022 Goodleap allowed an individual (******** Venture) to put a loan in my name for $125,000. I have been in contact with Goodleap for the past 2 years trying to get this issue resolved. I never authorized the loan and Goodleap representatives keep giving me the runaround. I'm filing this complaint against Goodleap to get this loan removed off of my credit and out of my name. I have several documents that prove to them I'm not the borrower on this loan. If there is anything that the BBB can do it would be greatly appreciated. I have worked for years to build my credit and this loan is ruining it. It's also hard to get personal loans because of the amount of the debt.

I am rejecting this response because: Goodleap did not go through all the proper channels to verify the identity of the borrower. I have spoken with Goodleap on several occasions, and tried to get information pertaining to this specific loan and they have denied me of all documents. For example, Verification of completion documents, original permits, the intake phone call.  As a lender for the solar company's, Goodleap should have went through more Verification processes. There is NO solar on the house at all, so no Verification of completion was ever shown to Goodleap, yet they still give out the loan.

I am rejecting this response because:

I have been in contact with Goodleap since 5/18/2023 when I first noticed this on my credit report. I had an open case with *************************. I have sent in numerous amounts of paperwork showing that NONE of the signatures on Goodleaps paperwork matches the signatures of the "borrowers" of the loan. I have asked several times to show me the welcome call where I'm on it. (Noone has been able to do that). Goodleap can't verify proof of completion, cause there is NO solar on the home in question. The bank account and email the loan was originally set up under belong to ******** Venture. The person who used our names to get this loan fraudulently in the first place.

I have filed a police report with the North ********************* department.  I filed complaint with the *** for identity theft. I filed a complaint with the *** for fraud against goodleap for not verifying the identity of the borrower.

This loan is fraudulent and needs to be removed from my name and credit!

Both my husband and I had been in constant communication with the GoodLeap representative regarding the loan for our roof. We informed them that the contractor, Efficient Construction, did not fulfill their end of the contract by:?Not providing a signed copy of the roofing permit ?Not providing a copy of roof warranty ?Not providing a cost breakdown of materials vs. labor ?Not providing a contract that shows the 15% discount that was supposed to have been applied.Efficient did not finish their work, they never called for final inspection on the roof until 18 months later and I still, to this day, have not received any of the above documentations referenced above. I cannot, in all conscience, pay for roofing job that was, and is still not, complete. GoodLeap, in the beginning, was trying to contact Efficient Construction to get them to provide the documents - to no avail as Efficient was not returning their calls. We informed GoodLeap that until the job was finished, we would not be paying until all of this has been resolved. This is where everything went south quickly - they began to leave threatening letters on our screen door, visible to the entire neighborhood. I consider this to be harassing behavior and very unprofessional. I have already filed complaints against Efficient with the BBB and the State of ******************************

      Dear ***********************************,
Goodleap is in receipt of the complaint filed on June 18,2024, with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), regarding your home improvement project with Energy Efficient Exteriors. By the complaint, you expressed dissatisfaction with the service provided by Energy Efficient Exteriors and stated they have not provided the necessary documents. Further, you feel you should not have to make payments for the loan if the project is incomplete.
Please note, GoodLeap operates separately and independently from Energy Efficient Exteriors. GoodLeap is the lender for the purchase of home improvement products or services; we are neither the seller nor the contractor. Any agreements made outside of the signed loan agreement, between you and Energy Efficient Exteriors are separate from GoodLeap.
GoodLeaps loan agreement was signed by you on August 25,2022. The terms of the loan are clearly reflected in the agreement, including payment schedule, loan term, and interest rate. Additional information is also available in the Welcome Package; Welcome Letter, Closing Certificate, and Truth in Lending Disclosure, originally sent on September 22, 2022. See attachments.
GoodLeap received notification from Energy Efficient Exteriors the roof was installed on September 20, 2022. See the Completed Project Certificate (CPC). Accordingly, on September 21, 2022, GoodLeap sent funds, making payment to Energy Efficient Exteriors for the home improvement services rendered. Since then, GoodLeap was not made aware of any concerns relating to your contractor until May 2024.
To clarify, your loan product type is a Deferred Payment & Interest IF Paid, with an 18-month Promotional Period. As reflected in the Closing Certificate, the first payment was not due until April 21,2024.  As a reminder, Goodleap does not offer a grace ******* monthly payments not received by the due date are considered outstanding. The collection process begins the same day if an ACH payment is not pending processing for the account. Payment Reminder Calls will continue until a representative is able to confirm with a borrower when they can bring the account current. These communications serve as payment reminders to avoid negative reporting to the ************************* (CRAs).  Pursuant to the signed loan agreement, you are obligated to make all payments according to the payment schedule outlined in the agreement.

To make payment arrangements to bring the account current, please contact our ****************** at ************** or via email at ************************************************** at your earliest convenience.

In response, Energy Efficient Exteriors advised, the project passed inspection and provided the warranty and permit information. Please see attached. Energy Efficient Exteriors explained they do not have documents showing the 15 percent (%) discount because it was included in the overall purchase price. Without the discount, the project would have cost $22,456.47. Upon signing the agreement, it was made known that we needed to pay down 30% of the loan to maintain the interest rate provided by a specific date. It was not made clear that the monthly payments we would be making would have $0 going to principal and were only interest payments. When going to pay additional money, there is no way to pay down principal only. I submitted a payment of $500 with the intent to start paying the principal of the loan down was surprised to see that all of that payment went to interest. Something that I wouldn't have known since outstanding interest is not listed on the loan/billing statement for visibility and the total amount due (to include both the loan amount and outstanding interest) is also not included. The statement only lists the outstanding principal which at this point has maintained at the original loan amount and targeted amount and by what day to have it there. In addition, where the loan payment portion shows, it states principal and interest for the loan payment but there has never been a movement of the principal. This is highly deceptive and without a breakdown of billing and visibility to such allows for monetary manipulation of consumers as well. If the charges are accurate, it shouldn't be problematic to show all of this breakdown in a billing statement. I reached out to the customer service email provided and requested the information regarding outstanding interest so I may understand what is remaining to be able to pay down the principal and got no response from the business.

daily, beginning the day after the loan funds. By your first payment date, there was approximately
ninety (90) days worth of outstanding interest accrued from the loan start date. Monthly scheduled
payments are first applied to the outstanding interest accrued and then to the principal balance. Once
the outstanding interest accrued from the loan start date has been satisfied, the portion of the
payments applied to the principal balance will increase.

If the monthly balance has been satisfied, any additional payments will be first applied to the
outstanding interest accrued since the last payment was received, and any remaining funds will be
applied to the principal balance. For your records, your payment history is attached.

As a reminder, borrowers may make voluntary prepayments on the loan at any time without penalty.
However, it is not a requirement for the loan. We recommend borrowers make additional payments
at the same time as their monthly scheduled payment via the one-time payment feature in the online
payment portal, to avoid any interest accruing in between receipt of both payments. This will ensure
the additional is applied only toward the principal balance.

As reflected in the payment history, GoodLeap has received eleven (11) payments for a total amount
of $2,420.80, of which $1,920.80 was applied towards the interest and $500.00 towards the principal
balance. To date, your outstanding interest balance is $526.05, and your total loan balance is
$25,949.00, with a daily per diem of $7.92. For further assistance regarding payments, please contact

My husband passed away in April 28th of this year. I called the Goodleap company to inform them of his passing. I was told that I am still responsible for the loan from their company because I had signed some papers. I was told at the time that I had to sign the papers because my name is listed as co-owner of the house we were buying. We were also told that the solar panels came with a rebate (which we never received) and that they would practically pay for themselves. My husband was ill at the time and had the beginning of dementia and was unable to understand exactly what he was being told. He had throat cancer, lung cancer and had just been diagnosed with liver cancer. I am on my own now and unable to make payments on this loan. Living off only my S. S. now and barely making it at that. One insurance policy which was used for his burial. There is no way that I can afford this and never wanted them in the first place. From what I have read about the complaints about this company I expect no sympathy or help from them.

      Dear *********************,
GoodLeap is in receipt of the complaint filed on June 14, 2024, with the Better Business Bureau (BBB), regarding the purchase of a home solar system from ******* Solar (*******).  In summary, you assert you should not be responsible for the loan as it was in your late spouses name.  You also express dissatisfaction with the sales interaction and state you were misled regarding a tax incentive.
Please note, GoodLeap operates separately and independently of *******. Goodleap is the lender for the system purchased; we are neither the seller nor the installer.  As such,GoodLeap cannot confirm nor refute any claims made by the ******* sales representative during the sales interactions.
GoodLeap's loan agreement was signed on June 16, 2021, by the primary borrower, *******************, and you, the secondary borrower.  The DocuSign Certificate confirms the loan agreements were sent, viewed, and signed via the email address on file ********************** which matches the email address listed on the complaint form received.  The loan terms, including the Residential Tax Credit (tax credit), are clearly reflected in the loan agreement; on page five (5), it  states you may be eligible for a federal solar investment tax credit. You acknowledge that eligibility for this tax credit is not guaranteed.  GoodLeap is unable to determine if or an amount for which borrowers may be eligible. As noted in the agreement, we recommend borrowers speak with a tax advisor regarding their individual tax situations.
Be advised,  these claims were never brought to our attention since the loans origination in 2021.  Upon receipt of the complaint, the concerns were escalated to our ************************* team for investigation and resolution.  Client Support Manager ********************************* (*******) has attempted to contact you numerous times since receiving the complaint with no return communication.  As a result, we have been unable to verify the claims made.
We understand this may be a difficult time and offer our deepest condolences.  Should you wish to communicate with ******* and provide any documentation which supports your claims, you may reach ******* directly at ************** or via email at *************************************.
