On Tuesday March 14th of this year 2023, my puppy was sick and vomiting and wouldn't stop. He had thrown up a childs sock and a hair tie, but his condition was not improving. My normal vet wasn't open on this day so I went to who they recommended. I got an astronomical estimate from 3k up to almost 7k. They expect you to pay this before any of the things they have told you are needed are even done. I should have been suspicious at this stage but was told this was a ballpark and anything not used will be refunded back. I got a call that night letting me know they found the obstruction. I mentioned to her that the estimate was very high and I wanted to get him at the earliest time to avoid extra charges. She assured me she would let the day doctor know and that I shouldn't be anywhere near the *** on my estimate. I ended up calling for status TWICE! When I got there I was told I owed almost 500 more dollars on top of the *****, that I was able to acquire from the creditor they suggest to sign up for to help with costs. I asked for a review of the charges, i was told all of them checked out and they didn't see any notes for the daytime doctor. I was told they don't usually call for updates. I'm confused as to how I was supposed to know he was ready. My dog reeked of vomit, a cheap cone was tied around his neck in addition to his stomach bandage and foot wrap. The condition of my dog post op was insulting. Using a pet owners desperation to save their life against them to charge costs like this should be illegal. This doesnt account for the fact that they were supposed to do their best to make my dog comfortable until my vet could be contacted in 12 hours. They purposefully never mentioned this. They proceeded to insist that he would need surgery. My veterinarian was extremely upset with their disregard for what I needed as a consumer. They had an obligation to work in ******* with my existing doctor, they failed to do so, to my financial detriment.
