This was an absolute scam.I visited ********************* at a metaphysical fair on June 14th. I asked for the past and present package with free **************** sacred symbols for $90. Once I sat down, **** was adamant that for me to really understand the reading I'd need to do an entire past present and future package for $170. She promised it would all make sense. I was hesitant. She kept pushing and saying, trust me and like an idiot when she asked me for my CC to get started, I gave it to her. Hard to explain, but her presence was just so alluring, warm and safe. She charges me and then I have to choose a gratuity so were at $195 My reading was a 5 min fishing expedition that came up empty. She tried to tell me I had a traumatic childhood I did not. That I had trauma from a past relationship I did not. That my husband is not good? Then after me disputing everything she says everything will work out and the future looks great. She then takes maybe 2 minutes to draw a basic Henna design on my hand using traditional symbols - no custom symbols. I speak to the event organizer and tell her I feel like I just got scammed. She is apologetic, shares shes had complaints before.I emailed **** and asked for a refund as I did not receive the sacred symbols as she advertised nor a reading that made any sense despite her pressuring me into it and promising me it all would. She refused any refund including tip and stated, I had to do your past and present reading to cleanse your energy for future. Believe me Henna Prayers are always fulfilled and you will be pleasantly surprised. I NEVER signed up for a cleansing. What kind of person makes a promise they can fulfill prayers? Thats not only impossible, but manipulative and deceitful. While losing that money hurt, it didn't put me a position where I didnt have enough grocery money, but I can see how it could for others which is what bothers me the most. I wasnt the first person, and I wont be the last.

      Business response

I am a Local Henna Artist from **********. Henna is a Prayer That You Wear. Henna is a language of symbols which are used as offerings and the color it leaves behind is a blessing. It is an ancient ****** Spiritual art. I have been doing henna blessings ever since I was a child in **************,  *****. I travel all over the *** for fairs and festivals. I was a highschool teacher for several years but I enjoy serving my clients by doing Henna Blessings. I have been doing henna professionally for the past 25 years. I was also Voted
"Best Of **********" from ******************* and News and Review. My designs start with $25 and up. Customers have an option to choose a design, pick a price or get A FREE READING with their own sacred symbols of present and past for $95 and Future symbols for $75. Everything is clearly posted at my booth. Generally, everyone does Present and Past first and then Future symbols. I was at the *************** Spiritual fair on June 11th, 2021 where I met **********************
Her initial complaint was that I was very fast in my work, reading was short ( remember, reading is FREE that guides me what to do) and she had messed up her henna design and I was answering customer's questions and she paid so much for henna blessings. But now she added all the stuff which I do not recall.
This is all new to me about her reading and what she  said in this letter to you.
she had never mentioned that before . I see hundreds of people and I do not remember their readings.
If she was not happy with the reading which was FREE, why did she do the henna? She could have easily told me that she is not interested and there would be no issue. Reading is done before doing henna symbols.

She spoke to the producer of the show and I am attaching her comments also. When she came to get her henna sealed with Honey and lemon, I saw it was a little messed  up. It takes at least 20 minutes to dry and if customers are not careful and shopping, they can mess it up. I left my clients to seal her henna and tried to fix it to the best of my ability. I offered her to come back and I will do a FREE HENNA SERVICE for her and the Producer refunded her entry fee.
********************* had tried to dispute her credit card charges twice for the same complaint and they were denied. I have all the paperwork that was sent for the dispute.

I am very passionate about my services and it breaks my heart when the customer is not happy. It is a service and I spend my time, product, energy and skill to carve the symbols.

      Customer response

      09/18/2022

I am rejecting this response because:

I am not satisfied with the response from this business.

I have addressed my concerns with **** not once, but twice and both times she has responded. Im unsure how this can be the first that shes heard about it. I was clear in my original correspondence with her stating that I felt pressured into getting a much more expensive package based on her promising that it would all make sense and I needed to do it and to trust her. I also expressed that I she advertised customized symbols which she did not produce as well as the fact that the reading made no sense.
As I stated in my correspondence, I wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt that she had an off day or was just too busy and distracted with the other customers she was trying to bring in, but once I received her response that she had to cleanse me for the blessings and that I would pleasantly surprised because all of her henna blessings always come true it became abundantly clear that it was all a scam as none of that was advertised and that response was clearly another manipulation tactic.
My initial complaints remain the same as documented in my letter as well as ALL of the associated documentation that I submitted to include all of the documentation from the original dispute as well as the original correspondence with ****. She has yet to address any of the particular issues directly and instead skirts around everything trying to elicit sympathy and tries to do her best for people because she truly cares.
That is when I filed a dispute with my credit card company. I referenced this in my correspondence as well. While it certainly sounds good to state that my credit card company denied my dispute that is not what happened. Its isnt as if we went in front of a judge and sole discretion was up to an unbiased party. Visas dispute rules specifically state when  there is a dispute in regards to any type of service whether it be the service was not as advertised or not received it is up the sole discretion of the merchant to approve the refund. My credit card company reached out when they received Renus response with the results and suggested I appeal it and give her another opportunity to make it right, but based on what they see every day and her response they did not think she would. I went ahead and filed an appeal and again she refused any type of refund so the dispute resolution was denied. They expressed their apologies and the dispute specialist working on my case was the one that recommended that I file a complaint with the BBB as well as the ********************** for further investigation. They stated that it seemed very clear that this was a scam and they urged me to pursue it and not let other people be taken advantage of.
In regards to ***** comments about why I chose to follow through with the henna design if I wasnt happy with the free reading is quite simple. She had already made me pay AND tip her before we even started. I actually didnt know that the reading was over with until the very end. I thought it was just the start and was taken aback when she said she was done after less than 10 minutes. Had she have given me a truly free reading and then given me the opportunity to choose whether or not I paid $195 for her to give me a henna design on  my hand based on that readingI would have NEVER proceeded.
***** doesnt actually offer free readings. Those free readings only accompany the much larger packages that she offers. They are a part of the service that you purchase. She can advertise them as free all she wants, but you must pay to get one so it is NOT free.
In  reference to her insinuating that I messed up the design and didnt take care of it properly it was messed up before I got out of the chair and was not fixed. When I came back for the sealer parts has started to flake, but I could care less about. I scraped everything off as soon as I walked out the door because I didnt want anything on me that was part of that scam. I could care less how it held up my dispute and issue is the fact that I services I agreed to were NOT delivered as described in detail in my original dispute. I was manipulated into purchasing and tipping for a service that I was uncomfortable with based on the promise of trustingher and that I needed this service to see it all and it would all make sense.
In reference to the refund of the show entry fee yes, I did receive $10. The event organizer was apologetic and insisted that I take it. I tried to deny accepting it twice. If she wanted to refund me the money that she scammed me out of minus the $10 entry fee and give that back to the event organizer that would have been acceptable. **** did offer to give me another freeservice if I came to another festival some day, but Im not interested in getting taken advantage of AGAIN.
Since my original filing of this complaint, I have had correspondence with another event organizer that works frequently with ****. She shared that At our events (due to mixed , like that of the other reviews on her - some clients rave positively others have had pricing issues - although not as extreme as your report) - we require that **** have the client sign an agreement in advance that they know what services are purchased and what the charges will be are initialed in advance.
This very obviously is an issue that happens wherever **** is peddling her services and I dont understand how someone that causes event organizers to make clients sign an agreement with pricing and description of services because of all the issues that theyve had in the past is still allowed the opportunity to continue. ,
I can assure you that if I would have been given an agreement to sign that stated I would receive a basic henna design with no custom symbols and a few minutes of her feeling into my energy and trying to pull things out and make guesses and calling it a reading, that I needed to pay all this money actually to get a cleansing so that all of her prayers and blessings would come true AND that the entire service would be less than 10 minutes  for $195 I never would have proceeded.
I was an absolute idiot for buying into this and not seeing the initial red flags with the high pressure sales tactic as well as being forced to pay AND tip before the service even begun, but theres no way, even as much of an idiot as I was, that I would have proceeded with any of this had it been advertised correctly or truthfully.
