I closed my account with ********************************************* Club in ****** March/April 2023. At the time I was still recovering from a knee surgery and in process of scheduling another surgery as well limiting my ability to use the gym. Another reason for cancelling was due to the fact that during that time found out there was a homeless person living out of there breaker room in the back as well as exstensive drug use happening in the area (I was close friends with an employee at the time and this in formation was not being made publid to the members of the gym in regards to safety) I was shown multipe photos and videos of the situation and safety hazards that the gym management was failing to deal with. About 1-2 months late the gym itself closed down with out notice. All in all I am now receiving collection calls from a law office for charges that should never have taken place to begin with given the state of the gym, the random closing, and my having cancelled my membership. Poor business practice and feels like a scam and harassment at this point as the calls have come out of nowhere and are invalid.Initial Complaint

This location just upended and closed without any notice, but they are still taking dues out of my account!! Also they transferred my membership to another gym (CalFit) which i never agreed to nor did i sign any paperwork to become a member of that gym. I went in person to CalFit to cancel the membership and I was told they do not have access to any of Elements memberships and therefore they could not cannot my membership. I was charged twice on; 11/2/23 for Element and on 11-7-23 for CalFit. ($29.95 each). So if this gym is closed why are they still charging me. And I never consented for my membership to be transferred to a different gym. I would like a refund for each of those charges as well as my membership permanently closed! $59.90Initial Complaint

I called to cancel my membership on 10/27/22, was advised I cannot cancel over the phone. I must come in person which is not possible at this time. My contract states I can cancel in person, by calling, letter by mail or by sending an email that shows a dated and signed letter. I sent an email to the email address in my contract on 10/25/22 requesting cancellation and have not received a reply from ************************* I have not used my membership here ever. And if the contract terms changed, I was not made aware.Business response

I personally spoke with this gentleman and when he called the facility, and I did offer to cancel his membership at that time, but he requested it to be left alone so that he could file this complaint. His membership has been canceled as of 11/7/22 and the remaining balance on his account has been written off. We did not receive an email from him because he sent it to ************************ address which is not ours. Our contact information is ******************Customer response

There were no fees added just monthly membership dues and the normal annual maintenance fee of $39.00.
