I'm writing to file a formal grievance against Tax Tiger due to attorney *************************** mishandling of my tax issues. I went into an agreement of resolution on 6/16/22. Despite the advertising on their website regarding research, protection from the **** and resolution of tax issues my experience has been disastrous. First and foremost, the attorney assigned to my case, ***********************, demonstrated incompetence in handling my tax matters. Not only did she fail to effectively communicate with me, but her performance was further hindered by personal circumstances, including the loss of a parent, which seemingly affected her ability to operate competently. ******** incompetence, led to no resolution despite me paying $7000 to the company. I was more effective in gathering information than ******, who exhibited an abrasive demeanor and poor communication. Upon requesting an itemized bill and partial refund, I was told it would take two weeks to furnish the document. After waiting five weeks, I was provided with an inflated figure of 49 billable hours, with a balance due of an additional *********, and with no resolution achieved. Tax Tiger's billing practices are questionable, and their claims of *** contacts are baseless. I have had more success communicating with the *** directly, which is why I decided to end business with ********************* on 3/13/24 after waiting over 20 months for resolution. Tax Tiger engages in predatory practices, exploiting clients' hard-earned money without fulfilling promises. In light of the aforementioned grievances, I formally request a partial refund and accurate billable hours. It's crucial for Tax Tiger to rectify these issues promptly and ethically.

      ***************,

Im going to try and keep this very high level and simple due to the extensive notes and work weve performed for you in resolving the numerous issues over the multiple tax filings that you had issues with from another preparer or yourself.  Simply put, returns were not filed correctly and/or issues caused through multiple filings and ID theft flagging.  Tax Tiger worked tirelessly in resolving the tax years with issues, reducing the balances on the 2017 returns alone by $23,000.  Once we finally had the years filed and properly processed (this took us about ***** months and working with numerous agents, keep in mind coming out of Covid in the early stages of your engagement), we requested the documentation necessary to then negotiate your repayment with ***, at which point we had concerns with your financials and what was reported, therefore we gave you two options without getting specific.  We had concerns upon learning of your income and ability to repay the obligations, and then you asked if they could be blacked out or not forwarded to ***, to which we provided our response of No.  You chose neither option we provided and went directly behind our back to the Tax Payer Advocate for assistance and attempted to close/cancel your case with us, and then asked for a refund.  We are aware of why you did it and what you are trying to do, but either way, you are not doing yourself justice.  By filing an online complaint with the BBB is an effort to pull a slight of hand and kick us on the way out.  To say that we have done nothing for you over 2+ years, to say that we are incompetent, to dismiss someones efforts put into your case while they were away dealing with the death of a family member, is incomprehensible to us.  Here is what we did do for you, resolved all errant returns that were filed, resolve ID theft issues, forced 2017 resolution and acceptance, saving $23K, began working through installment agreement negotiations.  We have a bit of insight for you, the *** will get ahold of anything they want to when they want it, so be prepared when they issue a summons for your financial information.

Regarding fees, you paid us for a flat fee arrangement on two occasions as we encountered additional issues.  When you requested a billable hour breakdown, that is what we sent, but we also explained that this is what you would owe if we were not in a flat fee arrangement, we are not asking for additional funds for the hourly breakdown, and there is no predatory practices or exploitation of hard earned money, in fact, we are here to ensure that you keep as much of your money as possible, that fact is evident from our work as stated above.  Who works for 2+ years on a case, saves them over $23K, and then has to hear comments like this?  There will be no refund for our services performed.

We wish you well in ALL of your future endeavors.

      Regards,

      Tax Tiger

I hired this company 7 years ago to help with an IRS issue. Nothing has really happened. No resolution. Since February 2022. I have called 27 times. Left messages and call back numbers, been put on hold then hung up on. Promised someone would call me back. Nothing. Yes I have paid them in full, then paid them more because they said it was complicated. Emailed my financial stuff *************************** business. Why?

      To whom it may concern,

We are very sorry to hear about Mr. ***** issues in contacting Tax Tiger and hope we can resolve this expeditiously.  First, we believe this to be a miscommunication issue that can be resolved easily.  In reviewing our system notes, it appears that we have attempted multiple times over the past 11 months, five emails were sent and 2 phone calls were made.  Phone calls repeatedly went to voicemail, and the voicemail recording said it was full and we could not leave a message, therefore we sent multiple emails in an attempt to reach you as well.  On July 11th,you phoned us and we spoke with you, and explained that we were having issues reaching you and your voicemail box was full.  Our case worker then attempted to reach out again three additional times by phone that same day, only to still receive the notice of voicemail box full.  We need to have better communication and maybe an alternate method, since we are still having issues.  It would be very helpful if you could empty your voicemail box and/or check your email junk/spam folder to see if potentially our emails are getting caught ** in your filter.  We also have been requesting documentation for quite some time that we need to speak about.  Please reach back out to our office and ask for ***** state it is important and related to contact issues you are having.

      Regards,

      *************************

I am rejecting this response because:
Sorry this is total b s. My voice mail has never been full. And I check my junk email daily then empty it.
As for the un answered phone calls and the promise someone will call back. Well I'm still waiting. Thank you.

OK, so again, we attempted yesterday to contact ************ by way of email to him, his wife, and phone calls to both.  We received the same message that "The voicemail box for the user has not been set up".  I've also attached a copy of the email we sent to both of them, explaining the issues we are having while attempted to contact ************.  ************ has our office owner's email address, phone number, and the main office number.  It would seem to us that the ball is clearly in **************** court, as we have attempted multiple times to contact them, but are presented with false claims that we are not doing that.  The attached email will show that we have been, and that we still are attempting to contact them and still encountering issues on **************** end.  If we should attach every attempted contact from our system, we can do that as well to show our good faith efforts to reach ************.

I got an email I have called 4 times and responded to the email with a time to call. Tax Tiger did not call. So I called them. No answer I left yet another message. Still nothing. My voice mail works great. Texting works even better, uses less band width.  I work in a rule area. I put that in email response as well as voice mail.
The party who is responding to you is clearly un informed.  Otherwise he would know the  emails were sent to *************************** as were the 4 phone calls in 2 days. Yesterday and Wednesday.  She  has tried once, I've returned 4 calls 2 emails. I  am waiting for a call today. I hope I receive it.

I am rejecting this response because:
It's untrue. They called once, I returned that call and left a message also emailed ***** back with a time. I called her at that time. Again left a message. Since then I have called multiple times each day, leaving messages for her to call back. Over 20 calls. Not once has anyone returned a single call. Having documented each call and email for the past 7 years they have no excuse. They have earned an F.

Tax Tiger has taken a lot of money from me, with almost zero in return. I was given a representative that other than the initial introduction, I have never heard from again in more than 5-6 months. The attorney is never available, and never remembers my case or current events revolving my case. Just today he made a comment that made no sense, and was a final straw for me. Theyre taking my money and doing nothing comparable in value. It is a total joke.

      To whom it may concern,

Mr. *************************** contacted Tax Tiger in December of 2021, and made the decision to retain our services to assist **************** with establishing a repayment plan with the *** of his liabilities, and to submit requests for the abatement of penalties.  Tax Tiger performed a complete investigation of *** Master File for any non-compliance and/or outstanding liabilities.  We then reached out to **************** for supporting documentation of financials due to the balance of the liabilities.  We then obtained a payoff for a few of the older years for him, which we did, and **************** paid.  Once this was logged with ***, we continued to establish the repayment agreement with the *** that **************** requested, and received confirmation of the new agreement on April 27th, and closed our case on May 10th for that service.  **************** then began contacting Tax Tiger again in late **** and berating representatives and threatening non-payment,etc.  Interesting because we provided exactly the service he hired us for, and established the payment plan of his expectations, or within $10 of it, and when that information was relayed to ***************, his response was, I received your message, and $XXXX starting in **** is fine.  You can sign for me.

So, maybe we are missing something, but we were hired to perform a service, we performed that service, you were aware of the service were performing, we completed the service, you acknowledged that, and a month or so later you are now unhappy and say we did nothing for you?

I am rejecting this response because: they under performed. Anyone could have called the irs and performed what they accomplished for free in a couple hours **** Verbally they over promised, in reality they did nothing that warrants almost $5,000. I think they likely get this response often, since they have an employee that deals with this as their job title. The SEC should look into this company and its predatory practices.

      Business response

Interesting response, as nobody is preying on anyone, in fact I think that you contacted us for help.  Tax Tiger offers tax resolution services and options for individuals and businesses that have issues with the *** and/or State.  There are many services we offer, and all have varying hours allocated based on the service.  **************** hired us to perform a specific service, which we did, and then further offered to submit a request for penalty abatement if he so qualified.  We even established the repayment duration and monthly amount to his approval.  If there was dissatisfaction felt, why was this not discussed or brought up during the work or service being performed, but rather months after the fact.  We are sorry to hear that **************** is now dissatisfied with receiving the resolution option he hired us for, and wish him well going forward.

We are not quite sure why a further response is requested.  The customer stands on their statement, and we stand on ours, we were hired for a service, we performed that service to the expectations of the client, he was satisfied with our results when the agreement with the *** was established, and his case has been completed.

Mr. ***** hired Tax Tiger to prepare a past due tax return that was outstanding, and to negotiate an installment agreement with the IRS to repay any liabilities based on his financial conditions.  Tax Tiger prepared the return, which contributed to additional money owing, and worked to negotiate a repayment arrangement that the IRS would agree to, and that Mr. ***** could afford.  At the end of the day, Tax Tiger established the lowest possible payment arrangement for Mr. ***** based on his financials, and what the IRS would allow for expenses.  Mr. ***** felt that this repayment amount should have been lower, and did not wish to hear our explanation of how the IRS evaluates your ability to pay them.  Mr. ***** explained to us that he has higher expenses, but failed to provide us any proof of such that would qualify him for a lower repayment amount, or a settlement (reduction of liability).  Even as such, we've told Mr. ***** that if he can provide additional documentation for the IRS, we would gladly revisit the arrangement with the IRS.  As for the time it took to resolve Mr. *****'s issue, well that is out of our hands as we needed to wait on a tax return to be prepared, received by the IRS, processed by them, and then we could engage them for a resolution, and MOST of this was taking place during 2020 and COVID shutdowns, when the IRS was effectively closed and not processing returns, or very slowly.  Tax Tiger has provided all services that Mr. ***** has retained us to provide and we are sorry to hear that he is unhappy.
