I went to prior body shops before going to the body shop my insurance recommended. I asked if it was better to take the car somewhere else because I didnt want it to effect my insurance because they where charging me double the price and telling me their are inner damages without even looking at the vehicle. The vehicle has cosmetic work that needs to be fixed at the left tail light. The shop my insurance used charged me 2x the parts and overcharged me on the parts as well. The insurance shortly called asking me if I have anything in my vehicle because its salvaged when its clearly not. My concern is that both the shop and insurance seemed to have their minds made up and are trying to pressure me without elaborating with me first the issue which is why they would purposely charge me 3x the prize in order to take my vehicle. Whats the point of paying for insurance if their goal is to over charge me, take my vehicle and increase my insurance for damages I didnt make.

      Business response

      08/16/2024

In response to the complaint from ***********.
*********** first came to us for an estimate only and we wrote an estimate for $ ******* which was close to being  over the threshold of  a total loss as per the threshold set by AAA. A few days later *********** showed up at our shop unscheduled without an appointment. She insisted on us taking her car in even though we already had another AAA customer scheduled at the same time she showed up. We took her car in and diassemblembled the vehicle, finding damage to the ** quarter panel , ** quarter panel extension , rear body ,  Lt ************** pocket and left tail lamp . We let *********** know about the damages after the teardown and she and her mom insisted on calling our shop and telling myself our CSR and ***** the estimator that we are thieves and many other colorful words. She claimed We are ripping her off because another shop told her that they would do the job for 3500.00.  I tried explaining to *********** that all shops charge different rates and parts prices can vary due to buying OE , LKQ or aftermarket parts .I explained very calmly that we don't determine a total loss, we just write estimates for the damage according to our business profile with the insurance company. AAA determined her vehicle a total loss from the estimate and photos provided. (estimate and photos attached). *********** insisted that we didn't know what we were looking at or what we were doing because she could see the damage and she insisted that we never took her car apart. I offered to show her photos but she had it set in her mind that we somehow would have photos but they were not from her car. A few days later *********** came to get her personals .***** and myself assisted her out to her car . She cussed me out using every dirty word on the planet and got into an argument with my estimator so I asked politely to leave the property. Two days later *********** came to pick up her car again cussing at us and insisted she would fix us because we are nothing but a bunch of thugs. We understand people getting upset at the fact they were in an accident and sometimes the value of the vehicle does not hold up to a repair plan. I don't understand how the guest thinks that we are compromising her insurance by charging them for repairs. She was the claimant, she was at fault and decided to use her insurance. This is an upstanding business and our **************** index (surveys) prove that we are upstanding and provide good service to our customers.
Please let me know how this claim process works for this erroneous complaint.

I had a car accident on July 2nd 2021. I filed a claim to my insurance company called ALLIANCE UNITED INSURANCE COMPANY. My claim number is *********99. The insurance estimated an amount of $6,418.21 would cost to fix my car. After the car accident my car got towed to a body shop named GERBER COLLISON & glass and they fixed my car. As of now I have not been able to get my car out of the body shop because there is a difference on the amount my insurance estimated to pay which is $6,418.21 and the amount the body shop actually charged to fix which is the amount of $11,000. As of now I have not been able to get my car out because the dispute between my insurance and the body shop that fixed my car. The resolution I am seeking is for my insurance and the body shop that fixed my car to come to an a agreement so I can get my car out. My car has been at the body shop since July 2nd till now and I have been paying car payment without having my car.
