Back in March 2020, I requested from Fitness 19 ********* to cancel my account by phone. I was told to go to ********* location to do so but it was during peak of Covid so I did not go. I tried to went online but I could not login, it was impossible to link my account number to my name or email. A couple months after, I did not see charges so I assumed it was already cancelled. But between 2022-2024, I saw monthly charges of $22.99 (20 charges as of 03/15/2024) and 2 annual charges of $62.98 again. Please note I haven't walked in to any Fitness19 gyms since early 2020 and the charges kept coming. They can look at their check-in logs or cameras for this. I NEVER requested to reinstate my account. I never received communication from Fitness19 that they are going to resume the charges nor to reinstate my account. I called ********* location a couple of times to cancel my account, but I was told to go to their gym again. I moved to another city and got too busy working and studying so I didn't get a chance to actually visit the ********* location. Past forward to today, March 30th, 2024, I finally went to ********* location and the front desk sent me a text message with instructions on how to cancel. I could have done that at home if that was the case, why make me go to the gym? Anyways, I followed the instructions and I've been having trouble accessing my account. I could not link account number ********** by my name. I tried resetting password using my email which was linked to ********* location and has a different account number. I am so confused and furious! I called ********* and the employee seemed clueless how to help me. Why do I have to go all through these for just for a simple request?Business response

This business made it impossible to cancel memberships unless creating an online account. I didnt have one went in and personally tried to close my account before moving and they couldnt I finally had a manager do it because I didnt have the internet at the time, then I recieved a bill and a unpaid balance that shows on my credit report. I spoke with the manager again and she said to resolve the issue I had to pay the bill for months I didnt use the gym and the months after requesting that it be closed. Then she said if I have no proof of closing the account I owe the money.Business response

We cleared things up with ****** *****. Fitness 19 no longer has any overdue balance by ******. We called her and cleared it together. We hope that she wants to rejoin the gym in the future.Initial Complaint

During the covid pandemic gym facilities were closed, there was no attempt to reach members to notify they would be reopening or that they would resume billing, I was never notified that they would resume billing my card, with the uncertainty of covid and changing protocols I feel it is unjust to have never been notified and continued to be charged. I contacted the gym directly whom stated they would "review my contract", no help was offered. no where in the contract could covid have been predicted. The charges to me feel fraudulent. My account was charged $441.66, starting 3-19-21 to current. the rate of ***** per month.Initial Complaint

I was formally a member of fitness 19 located in *********, **. Sometime ago, I had canceled my membership with the club speaking with the sales associate and surrendering my keychain access card. After that day, believing my membership was canceled I never returned to the gym. On May 21, 2022, while looking at my banking records I noticed a charge on my account for membership fees to fitness 19 gym. I immediately contacted fitness 19 ********* and spoke to an employee who stated that I was still an active member at the gym And had been actively charged membership fees. Even though, I had cancelled my membership, surrendered my keychain access card and had not returned since the day I cancelled the membership. I immediately requested to speak to the club manager and was told that I would receive a call from her on Monday May 23 2022. I never received a phone call. The very next day on Tuesday, I called fitness 19 ********* once again and requested the club manager. I spoke to *******, who identified herself as a club manager, and told her about my situation and how I was charged on my account (funds withdrawn) after I had canceled my gym membership, surrendered my key access card, and not returned to the gym since cancelling. Jessicas Only resolution to the situation was that she stated she would go ahead and cancel my membership over the phone today. ******* provided no answers to rectify my issue concerning the fact I was charged for several months the fitness 19 club fee even though I had already cancelled my membership. I asked ******* for the next level of supervision or management and she provided me with a phone number. I attempted to the contact that number to speak to that individual, left a message and have not heard back. I have made several attempts to contact the fitness 19 owner *************************** to no avail. I have exhausted every means to rectify this issue. My Attorney recommended filing this complaint to exhaust every avenue rectify iss
