california air tools is a very unreputable company. i bought a compressor off amazon made by california air tools model cat-30020C-***** 30 gal tank 2 hp. bought it july 8,2020. warranty has run out. but i have constantly had problems with it motor gets hot shuts down wait 15 min and then it starts back up. i have put up with it for the last 3 years doing this.paid ****** for it. this company discontinued this model.reason is engineering flaw. so they quit selling it.30 gallon tank was not sized right with the oiless motor on it. amazon wont stand behind because of the 3 year time span.i dont blame amazon. i should have complained before. the warranty run out so i half to buy me another compressor. i would not buy or give them a nickel for anything they have. very dishonest and bad company to deal with. so all i can say is buyer beware. i had a business in woodworking for 42 years used many compressors. also went to the world woodworking shows and bought tools. this company is a joke.

The customer, *******, contacted our customer service department earlier this week; we had never spoken to him before and were unaware of any issues (no case file in our database on this customer). The *********** unit was discontinued in Q2 2022. ******* told us he purchased a replacement motor (*******-*****) for his *****C unit about a year ago to address the reported issue (noisy motor, running hot) but has not installed it yet. He told our support team that he used a grinder with the unit; the grinder likely burned up his motor windings since these tools commonly pull 7-9 CFM (cubic feet per minute). The ***** unit is only rated for a maximum of 5.3 CFM. On July 26, 2023, California Air Tools customer support told the customer he did not purchase the correct size unit for his tooling/application....he should have purchased a stronger 4 Hp model which is ideal for sanding/griding tools. He somewhat agreed to this assertion. ******* then asked our team to send him a new 200CR-***** for free (this is a brand new $860 continuous run motor that we just launched for a different air compressor series) and in turn he would send back the *******-***** motor he purchased over a year ago. ******* thought this would be a good compromise to resolve his issue. He is welcome to purchase the new motor, but we will not provide for free. Bottom line, the *****C is out of warranty, he exceeded the rated CFM capability by using a grinding tool and he already has a replacement motor-pump which will fully currently resolve his *****C unit issue...he just needs to replace the defective motor and splice in the new one. Typically only takes about 15 minutes.

If I could give them a ZERO stars I would. Very bad customer service and failure to follow up on warranty. Our company has purchased 4 of these compressors based on advice from another company having to do with noise issues. They are quiet but break easily and California air tools will not send me parts under warranty to fix them. I emailed them (their website has no phone number for the business on the site) and found myself being verbally abused by their customer service rep who knew nothing about the machine. It blew out a cheap plastic pressure line that should be an easy fix. I sent them all the information including a copy of the receipt but they continued to argue with me until I sent them a picture of the blown out part and then just ignored me and my follow up emails. there are alternatives on the market and our company will no longer purchase anything from them now that we know how bad they are. We also informed the company that recommended them to us and they will stop recommending them to their new customers.

California Air Tools service department was contacted on or around Nov. 22, 2022 by customer. All of the customers units were old and out of warranty and customer was advised that he could consult an independent service center or could purchase the parts himself and replace, to which he agreed (***********************************: " If this part isn't under warranty then I would like to purchase it. Tube exploded going from head to pressure gauge"). Our customer service team advised he could/may be able purchase the replacement parts via two our authorized spare parts resellers as we do not sell many of the smaller parts directly to customers. Both Spare Parts resellers are listed on our site with direct links and phone numbers; clearly visible to all customers. **************** recalls that he became upset since we did not 'directly sell' the part he was looking for. Note: some of the older units (7-8 plus years) also do not have certain parts available anymore and this may been part of the issue at hand. Regarding customers claim that no phone number is provided on our website, this is completely false. We list multiple phone numbers (service, parts and sales) under the CONTACT US section of the Californiaairtools.com website, along with California Air Tools hours of operation. Two support emails are also provided on these same pages should customers prefer to use email; all responses and call backs are same business day.
