    I brought my vanmoof bicycle to the San Diego Bike Shop on December 1st, 2022 to replace a tube from a flat tire. The associate inspected my bike and provided a quote of $30 labor plus parts to complete the job. I returned that afternoon and they mentioned they required some more time. I returned again between 5-6pm and was told when rebuilding the bike there was now a scraping noise coming from the chain, and that they were not able to fix it. The associate claimed she would continue to make adjustments the following day and call me once the issue was resolved. Over the following 5 days I followed up and was told they could not resolve the chain issue despite reaching out to the manufacturer. This scraping noise was not present at the time of dropping off the bike so I let the associate know I cannot accept delivery of the bike until its in the same condition as when I dropped it off. I made multiple visits to the store between Dec 1 - Dec 6 and was met with excuses about how the noise does not affect the function of the bicycle, and that there is nothing more they will do to solve the issue. This is a new electric bike, and beyond the nuisance of the noice, the noise could become a safety hazard if it were to cause a malfunction with the motor. On December 6th, 2022 I returned to the bike shop and formally requested that the store either 1.) absorbs the cost of sending the bicycle to the manufacturer for repair or 2.) replace the bike entirely. Multiple associates and the manager of the store refused both options and demanded that I take the now-defective bike with me and ignore the defect and potential safety issues. I spent several minutes trying to reason with them (and have the audio recording to support my entire experience), but the manager continued to refuse any help and said he did not want to pay for the repairs. I did not take ownership of the bike and am now pursuing legal action as this is an ethics and safety issue.
