This company unlawfully took money from me for consolidation which I found out was a illegals after making a one time payment and monthly payments for almost two years . I have tried to cancel my account/services with this company for months now. I get emails saying I can only cancel over the phone, then I call and no one answers. Ive left voicemails with no returned calls. I had to place a stop payment on their monthly charges in order to get them to stop charging me. They did not share vital information with me regarding the temporary student loan changes that are going to allow me to have my loans forgiven; I had to find this information myself. I believe this was for the sole purpose of avoiding receiving monthly payments for me. They are also filing things under my name with the federal student loan service, without my permission!I just want my account canceled and for them to leave me alone!Business response

I have never spoke to anyone or obtained any services at all from Student Loan Service. However, I received an email on 07/05/2022 from the **** ********** of ********* stating that their had been "suspicious activity" on my federal loan account and they believed a third-party company was charging me. Since 04/2020, Student Loan Service started billing my checking account for ***** and then it increased to ***** to present! I have been on an income-driven repayment plan since my loans were initiated after I graduated in 2018. I have never been required to pay any money at all for my loans. I uploaded the documents need for this plan directly to the *** and never had any assistance from anyone. I did notice the $49 each month coming out of my account with the name "Student Loan SVC" and never questioned it due to the title. However, once reviewing my credit report I started to wonder where that $49 was going each month. Then two days later, I received the email from the U.S. ********** of ********* and I was able to put two and two together but, this is years after paying this company which I never authorized at all. I have stopped payment through my bank and have disputed all charges. This company is fraudulent and somehow accessing the *** system to obtain banking account information. I want to file a complaint against the company with the hopes of preventing this from happening to another person. I have already filed a dispute against this company from my bank and expect a full refund. I am informing the BBB that I expect this company to provide the refund to my bank.Initial Complaint

When my student loan transferred from ****** *** to Navient and then to Fed Loan I was contacted by Student Loan Service.us and was informed I had to have their services in order to keep my federal loan. When my loan was transferred to Nelnet recently and SLS kept taking money out of my account I contacted Nelnet and only then did I learn this was a third party scam that only provided documents. I even contacted this company when COVID hit to pause payments and was informed this would cause extra charges to my loan. They said my monthly payments would come off my loan total. This has not been true. I have paid this company $44 a month for years now and for no service that wasn't already provided by the loan company. I don't have the total amount spend yet; I just learned of this today. I have stopped payment with my bank and can provide more documents if needed when I am home and can go through my bank statements.
