We had a good experience obtaining our mortgage initially and then setting up automatic payments.However, I called them Oct.16 asking about have a recast done on our mortgage and the contact person there said they would send out the paperwork (their wording) for us to apply.I called today, 11/6/2023, having not received any information, and was told that our mortgage was sold. as of Nov. 1. In addition we could not access any information or start our recast effort until November 9, 2023. I have searched my email and can find no notice from either company of the mortgage holder change. In addition the representative at freedom mortgage corp told us that our payment was now in arrears. I am assuming that will be easily rectified. But we do lose more money to their interest because it seems to take about 2 months to accomplish the recast. So that is two more months of payments that are largely interest payments on top of no notification.Review from Donald Z

All about $ not customers. I have > 790 credit rating, got a loan, which Plaza bought before the 1st payment was due, which is typical. But then they resold it before the 2nd payment was due. Even though I made the 1st payment long before it was due and paid extra to principal.I spent over an hour setting up the account w/ **********************. Now I have to repeat w/ who they sold it to. Reading reviews below lots of others have had their mortgage sold and have issues w/ the transfer. Why get a loan from them if its just going to be sold. Mine was sold to '****************', which is ranked third from the bottom at No. 19 of 22 and got **** stars. So I expect more bad service.Review from Raleigh S

I am actually surprised to see some of these negative reviews. I have worked with Plaza Home Mortgage wholesale for many years. And although sometimes things happen-securing a mortgage can be an overwhelming experience not just for the buyer but all involved, seller, agents escrow, and lender. People say, " the .last time I didn't have to do this or that". I say- that was then, this is now. Borrowers can be pretty foolish too. I just closed one with Plaza which was excruciating; my borrowers although well-counseled did not understand the sense of urgency. Additionally, they had not been well counseled in the past on so many levels; particularly by their insurance company. I will cross ************ on a tightrope for my borrowers. I will also admonish them when they are foolish. I tell you this because My Plaza team walked that tightrope along with me as on several occasions I had to say, "But wait- there is more". It was a loan with a name, not just a loan number. It was a family buying their first home - may I add in generations. The children get to pick what color to paint their bedroom. Children ask when they can get a new family dog,- and all the excitement of getting a new home. I was so impressed with the Plaza team on this file. It wasn't a million-dollar deal in dollars. It was a million-dollar deal because this was their castle- a small home soon to be filled with joy. Thank You.Review from Eileen O

Absolutely AWFUL customer service. They are rude, unhelpful and have zero knowledge. They obviously enter key words and try to answer based on pre empted scripts. Terrible, if you happen to be applying for a mortgage go anywhere else except ***** Fargo they are just as bad. I had to give a star if not it would be zero.Review from Hunter E

I have worked with Plaza Mortgage for several years and I am still amazed at their ability to maintain quality service. Everyone that touches my files is courteous, knowledgeable and eager to help resolve issues or answer questions. I have even had account executives reach out after hours and on weekends. Because Plaza Home Mortgage missed a fax from our insurance provider updating our policy number, they began sending us letters stating suggesting we were in debt collections and our credit would be harmed. We contacted the insurance provider received the new policy number and then updated the info ourselves on the Plaza website. After the threating-sounding letters, we wanted to confirm that all was OK. After I finally reached a ******** Service agent, I found myself talking to someone who almost sounded amused by my concern and the fact that I wanted assurance that all was OK. Things happen. But to have such disrespectful and incompetent people discussing your financial future is unhelpful to say the least. The problem was clearly on Plaza's end and when I wanted to make sure it was resolved I was almost laughed at. Don't use this company. Period.Review from Anonymous Victim X

They repeatedly misapply my payments, tell me they haven't received checks even though I have tracking, POD, and a copy of the cleared check. Won't remove late fees even though it's their fault they occurred. Overall HORRIBLE customer service, no one actually wants to help you. They have threatened me with collections or negative credit reports more than once WHEN I PAID ON TIME, THEY MISAPPLIED IT. I have dates, check numbers, tracking, chat history, and copies of checks and they still have the nerve to tell me I'm wrong. They're liars and incompetent AR staff and currently are sitting on $632.00 of mine (that has cleared my account) that they refuse to acknowledge (despite copy of cleared check).
