My water bill tripled in the last two months. I have emailed the company to find out what the discrepancy is because there is no way that my water bill is almost as much as my electric bill. Nor is there any reason my bill should all of a sudden triple. I can change my rating when I receive a plausible and reasonable explanation.Multifamily Utility Company Response

I am trying to figure this company out . I know that they are thieves that Is a no-brainer. My electric bill to basically run my refrigerator which is a brand new mini that costs $45.00 a YEAR to run was $170.00 this month!!! How?!!! Thats about the code of my fridge! Something is very very wrong and I intend on speaking with other residents (who have tried to contact these ppl and whose English is not first language and they get brushed off to put it nicely). Management has no clue so she couldnt explain anything and actually used blank forms that were handed out when billing was switched over to these thieves bc she didnt understand it either. Great brainwashing techniques you got her but not me. Im going to figure out what these ppl are doing to us and they better stop taking my money and give me back what they owe me! I dont like it and the more I look around at their stuff the more uncomfortable I am. They are billing us for the installment of the meters the meters on our properties etc. i didnt ok this! Whats this NOI NOI NOI! Look it up. Its all about brainwashing the managers into stealing from the residents . Oh and the green stuff is irritating. Go green think green hey ppl if you are that ethical than please answer me this . Are you all vegans? If the answer is no then zip it on the ethical greenness bc you aint doing the planet a thing if you arent all VEGAN. Ethical?! Leave that word out as well if you arent practicing it as vegans and only then can you preach it. I think you do have a moral obligation to explain thyselves to us bc Im smelling something and its pretty foul.Review from Chloe M

Predatory company making a profit off the backs of real working class people. First of all I receive a bill in the mail from October which is due December 24th why didnt I receive the bill in November? Why is the bill $156 for a 300sq ft apartment? I used to pay $36 per month for water when I first moved into this apartment, multi family services has somehow increased my water bill to $86 per month when my water usage has remained the same. How they came to that figure I have no idea given they do not give you a breakdown of your usage. On top of that I had to pay a processing fee of $7.71 to pay online with my debit card that is absolutely absurd and predatory. Not please with this company I have no idea why my new landlord is using them but I will be moving as soon as my lease is up so I dont have to deal with this disgusting company anymore.Multifamily Utility Company Response

A+/0-00- major disappointment . Y? Do I have to pay a utility company in ********** ?Water, sewer, and trash has never been charged as a separate billing in an apartment . Apartment rentals in SD has always been included in the rent. This company MUC that claims to help family's to make them Utilities more affordable, MUC HAS MORE THEN DOUBBLED my bill in the past month. I moved in to this freshly built complex. A year & 1/2 ago. There was an agreement with management what would be affordable for my family. She asked, what would work with my low income. The amount the manager an I agreed on average $ 40 a month for this added utility bill. The property just installed the sprinkler system. The same month the bill went up. Kind of strange my utility doubled at the same-time?!; Something about the 3rd party billing setup. just Dose Not seem right.Multifamily Utility Company Response

This is a despicable company with horrible employees. Any complaint is handled as the landlord's fault or SDGE's fault, they do nothing but take money.I tried to get into the CARE/FERA program at SDGE and they were like, we know nothing about it. When I tried to apply, I could not because they have no corresponding account number with SDGE. They raised my rates by 300% in 8 months.This is a vampire company collecting fees from utility customers when it would be easier to deal direct with SDGE.My landlord loates them, every resident in complex loathes them and I loathe them.VAMPIES!Review from emma s

they label fees as "miscellaneous" and expect us to pay without an explanation. i had to hold for hours over a few days to get an answer and i ended up getting it from my landlord instead of them. horrible company and not trustworthy nor transparent.Multifamily Utility Company Response

Thank you for allowing us this opportunity to respond. Multifamily Utility Company is a 3rd party billing company contracted by ***************************** the Management Company for the community at 2325-******************
Our contract calls for us to bill the residents of this property using an allocation method for water and sewer called RUBS (Ratio Utility Billing System).The method we are using to calculate the bills for your community is called RUBS. RUBS is an acronym for Ratio Utility Billing System.
The steps involved in generating the monthly invoices for your community are as follows.
1)We receive a copy of the Master Utility Bill for the entire community from the Property Manager or directly from the City Utility Company for the Water,Sewer, and Trash.
2)Based on the resident information provided by the Property Manager, we then allocate a percentage of the Master Utility Bill to each unit in the community.
3)There are different factors that can be used to determine the percentage a unit would pay. The factors we use to divide the charges for water, sewer, and trash, are based on a unit's square footage.
4)As the total community utility consumption increases or decreases throughout each billing cycle, this can cause the individual unit bills to also increase or decrease, but the charges will always fluctuate.
This method is used when submeters are not a possibility due to the age and/or plumbing of the building.
If the utility provider charges are high for a given month, the allocation to the residents will be higher, and for this property it seems the Master **** has been high, the last several months. If a leak occurs, your ******************* will inform Multifamily Utility Company and it will be up to them to request adjustments.
Our contract is with the property management company, and we are billing their residents in accordance with the signed contract. If you believe an adjustment is in order, we will need to get approval from your management company.

This is a scam. They have no business profiting off of our public utilities. Absolutely disgusting. There is a scam late fee of $15.00 included on all invoices. And a fee to pay by credit cards? Like in office space can you tell me exactly what you do here again? Charging a fee to take payments for a payment company. I will never ever pay this company again. Now there is a $25 tier II/III collections fee. You can put all the fees you want I refuse to be taken advantage of by this joke of a company. My rent is sky high I am not putting up with mutltiscammer's BS fees anymore.Review from Dale G

I have lived in my complex for several years.my bill from the crime organization I'm just in one month of jump from amount ***** to ******. there is no customer service it's all about the money they cheat. I would ask a question and they couldn't answer it because there isn't an answer. They take advantage of people. The government is ripping us off now this low grade water company .
